Perhaps they should have submitted the request to move to lower risk status as of May 21st. You know, since they were one of the few counties that actually qualified for it...

Frankly that they asked at all came as a surprise given the current county leadership....

Could you imagine when this all started, that it would be like this 15 months later. I remember people on here freaking out that they had the nerve to shut stuff down til June 2020! Hope this never happens again.
My daughter for the first time since this bullshit started will play soccer tomorrow WITHOUT a mask. What a breath of fresh air!

In other words, the Blazers, to increase profit, pressured the County to let 20,000 people sit shoulder-to-shoulder at games, while yelling and exhaling deeply.

It isn't bullshit. It's 600,000 American deaths, 3.4 million worldwide, with many dying today.

Or how about the majority of the most at risk population (older people and preexisting conditions) have already been vaccinated. The vaccine is now readily available to the general population without appointments needed. If you aren’t vaccinated by now, that is completely your choice. But the world is moving forward with or without you.

This will not be completely eradicated and will most likely be an endemic we continue to deal with, similar to the seasonal flu that requires annual vaccinations.

There will be 14,000 people in MSG tomorrow - a city hit much harder by COVID.

Not to start any kind of political argument but do you ever wonder why Oregon had one of the four lowest deaths per capita in the US?

Let's keep the non-Blazer related discussions out of this thread.

Because we have a small population and homeless don't seem to catch it?

I mean, for real? Many midwest states and states in the south have far less dense populations with far less homeless population but they didn't have the state mandated that Oregon did and somehow they also had greater deaths per capita. I don't think that's a coincidence.

If you come back to the idea that homeless people don't get it, I'd like to know your theory as to why.

So you are saying the top 4 per capita states had fewer state-mandated restrictions than the others?

    New Jersey: 293 (Per Million)
    Population: 8.9 million residents

    New York: 270 (Per Million)
    Population: 19.4 million

    Massachusetts: 258 (Per Million)
    Population: 6.9 million

    Rhode Island: 255 (Per Million)

Still 500-600 cases a day in Oregon.

Good thing Multnomah County doesn't make up all of Oregon.

63 cases yesterday in Multnomah County. 73 weekly average and trending down. Seems pretty reasonable given the population is about 20% of the state’s total. I could see letting more fans in Moda, but it depends on protocols. Vaccinated folks, no problem at all.

In 1921 the world took a sigh of relief and began to return to normal.

The virus mutated and the horrific began to happen. Young children began to cough up blood and lung tissue, suffering excruciating death. Also young teens and 20’s were dying.

Six months more passed and once again the virus mutates and thousands were again catching a flu...however this time the virus had suddenly weakened and became a mild rendition of itself causing only mild symptoms and very few deaths.

Now 100 years later, are we going to see a repeat? Has the virus gone away? Maybe we should be a little cautious and look back at history!
