If that atlanta deal is available, It could conceivably be consummated before/on draft night. I would definitely be in favor of seeing SOMETHING positive happen before the moratorium.
Plus to get Ayton, they would have to, basically, give any depth they have up to make room. He's good, but not so good you gut the team for him.
If the Blazers could acquire the Hawks #16 pick, forget Grant, go get OG from the Raptors. Then you have a frontcourt of Nurk, Collins, and OG. HOMERUN!
Not necessarily. If the Raptors split up that small frontcourt to add a bigman, #16 could be very valuable to acquire whoever is odd man out (Siakam, Barnes, or OG).
Everyone can say Dame likes Grant, but Dame likes a lot of players. Just because he's friends, doesn't mean the guy is coming to Portland. Rumors in the NBA are mostly, just that. I think Cronin has eye on bigger fish.
Plus a lot of people got a boner when Dame put a heart on the Ayton post. He might have been just liking the fact that someone liked a major player in the league joining him here, not him going to join someone elsewhere.
Portland out: 7, Bledsoe In: Grant, Wood, Tate, Milwaukee pick Houston out: Wood, Tate, 17, Milwaukee '23 1st In: 7, Bledsoe Detroit out: Grant In: 17
we'd still have our TPE and picks from MIL for 23 and 25, while getting Grant and Wood? I'd give that serious consideration.
We'd need to use the tpe for Wood, so we'd shave it from 20 to about 7. So two 7 million TPEs and the 2 Milwaukee picks.
The Blazers trading away the #7 for a future draft pick does make sense the more I think of it. The team wants to win with Dame but isn't really sure they can get the vets to do it. Draft picks usually have more value before they are used, so this let's the Blazers use a future pick at a later time to bring in a vet to win. Alternatively if the Blazers can't get the other veterans they could keep this new future pick and do a youth rebuild. I like that more than trading the 7 for a win now vet which still needs so many other long shot roster moves to happen in order to make sense. But to your actual proposal, I just don't see our assets having the value you list to the other teams. It makes sense why the Blazers would do it.
Wood’s value is low due to his mental midget antics in Houston. He’s not worth a top-10 pick - even with Tate/17 attached. This would be a continuation of the Neil Olshey model.
