Strongly disagree. Hart has arguably been the 2nd most important player on this team so far. He does SO many of the little things that get overlooked by the average fan. Right now, Portland just needs to stay the course. IF the right trade offer comes along, I would be open to trading Nurk or Simons. Outside of that, I feel like Winslow/Watford/Little are similar types of players. Little is probably the best shooter of the three. Winslow the best defender. Watford the most well-rounded/best player. I wouldn't mind moving on from one of the three to get more size at PF/C. PS - I think Brown is just a lost cause at this point...
I gotta say as well as Hart has played, he’s been a disappointment to me. There’s so much more that he can do out there offensively esp with Dame out and Sharpe struggling. He basically refuses to shoot most of the time and it hurts us.
He def. should shoot more, especially mid-range. Scoring more will increase his value so it's in the best interest of all parties.
You don’t want HART shooting more. He’s not a scorer. Never has been never will be. He does all the little things, and I’m cool with that.
Nothing crazy needs to happen. Roster is still imbalanced. Cronin needs to trade a wing (Hart, Nas, Winslow, GP, Sharpe) for a a big. NONE of those guys are untradable, but some of them certainly would require the Blazers get a lot more back in return. Hart has, and will continue to be the most tradable player on this roster.
I honestly believe Hart is doing exactly what Chauncey has asked him to do. And that's to prioritize hustle, defense, rebounding, playmaking, and pushing the ball in transition. I'm pretty sure he didn't wake up one morning in the pre-season and decide to post his lowest usage and FGA rate of his career. Chauncey wanted to run Dame off the ball more which would create more ball-handling duties for Hart by the way, Hart has always been an exceptionally good rebounder for a 6'5 wing
As I typed this I knew one of you would use your CHEETO stained paws to google this game. While you’re at it, google Saudi Arabia snow storm.
Cheeto-stained paws is funny. And HCP is right, I’m not interested in Hart shooting more. I love him pushing the ball to the hoop though!
100% There is no player in the league you would take back in return for Sharpe? I'm anti-trading Dame, but there are at least 5 players I'd trade Dame for as well.
I'd bet they're going to find a way to keep Hart and Grant but I'm pretty sure there will be trades at the deadline and I think we are in win this season mode. I can see us bringing in some bench scoring. I was hoping Sharpe would fill that role but Payton is next man up as it stands and he's not a shooter either.
Josh Hart was out putting up 3's at halftime in the last two games trying to get a groove going with his corner 3....that's been his best deep shot for a while now. He's exactly the type player you lock up long term. Rumor mill says the Blazers love Josh Hart and there very well could be a wink and nod deal in place already like Nurk had last trade deadline. As teams start to tank which won't be long from now, it'll be a blue light special on good players from places like Utah or San Antonio....
My vote of trade future assets is more like “trade current assets to win now” I still want to see Myles Turner with Dame and Grant. Pacers are probably feeling alright sitting on home court advantage right now though.
Blazers don't need to do anything drastic, we're a team in ascension at the moment. Had a rough patch but it's a long season and the team has the right attitude to put a run together, especially as the schedule eases and Dame returns. Would like to see us bring in a guard who can score off the bench. Making the playoffs and getting into the second round i'd say it was they aim for this season, would be huge trend in the right direction. Take stock in the off season and perhaps tweak with a trade if the right deal becomes available. Renew Grant without question.
Why is it bad for Hart to take open looks instead of passing them up? He passes up a lot of open mid-range stuff. I am not implying you run plays for him, but why would taking open shots with the clock running down detract from the other parts of his game?
Want Besides, my fave players on this team are all role-players, and the only way we can keep them and actually contend is if we somehow add a world-class player. And what's the only way for a small-market team to do that? The downside is that this franchise is a horrible curse for big men taken at the top of the draft.
