NOTES
  • This is the fourth of four games this season between the Trail Blazers and Warriors
  • The Warriors defeated the Blazers 118-112 on 12/30 in San Francisco
  • The Trail Blazers defeated the Warriors 125-122 on 2/8 in Portland
  • The Warriors defeated the Trail Blazers 123-105 on 2/28 in San Francisco
  • The only former Blazer on the Warriors is Gary Payton II.
  • This will be the first game the Trail Blazers will have played the Warriors since Payton II was traded to the Warriors and they ran the Trail Blazers name through the mud...awkward
  • This is both teams last game of the 2022-23 NBA season

Going for a win?
No!

Thank you for putting the time in on all of these game threads... your efforts had great results. We can't say the same thing for our team this season. I'll be relieved when the game is over tomorrow. I hope to never root for our team to lose again. Fuck this season but let's hope something good comes out of it.

Thanks. Wish they would have resulted in more wins. I hope the same. Ugh.

What do you do with Knox? I like his length and speed for his size. You give him the 3M come June?? Can he give you 12-15 good minutes a night, say 8 and 4?

Cam needs 7.7 M qualifier offer...
I like his potential and his personality but that is a lot of cash IMHO. He has to give you 12 pts at least on super efficient shooting to be worth it.

I'd bet the under that Knox gets $3m/year from anyone next year. Seems more like a minimum guy to me, at this point.

Reddish isn't worth $7.7m/year either, IMO.

He's shown his potential, and Chauncey seems to be a fan of his. He will be here and contributing. Reddish is a bigger question mark.

If Magic and Pacers win then Blazers will be locked into the 5th slot, should know at tipoff. Then we can finally root for a Blazers win. Probably won't happen but would be nice.

Do you have this on inside info? I certainly hope you are not listening and taking what he is saying in post games as what he really is thinking?

There is no way the Warriors will lose today. Lakers play the Jazz and they will win that game as well. If the warriors lose they end up falling into the play in with a Laker win. The Suns don't have to beat the Clippers to stay in 4th so you figure they will rest players. Nuggets will want to beat the Kings but it makes no difference if the Kings lose so that game won't really be in question either.

The Mavericks tanking takes all the drama out of the play in for the West. Grizzlies will try to beat the Thunder i would presume but the Thunder have no reason to play if the Mavs lose to the Spurs.

Weird really??? As much as this season was in question all year today pretty much is a wash other than the Warriors and Lakers.

Too many teams tanked this year. You literally have 10 teams that don't want to win a game and you have another 14 that don't need to win. 2 teams need a win. The rest simply don't care?

The NBA has the last day wired to be watching 6 games at once but just didn't happen this year.

So I agree that on the open market be might not fetch 3M but I think that maybe given what he's just shown the last few games, some GM might be crazy enough to throw the bi-annual exception at him if it's available to them.

I don't think any of that matters though because I think Knox has shown that he belongs on an NBA roster and picking up his option costs us next to nothing. If we're re-signing Grant then we aren't going to have cap space and the difference between what Knox's min would be in his 7th season (~2M) and 3M is negligible. If you think this guy is worth having on your roster at all then you pick up his option.

Pelicans v Wolves is a meaningful game
Winner needs to only win one more to be in the playoffs, loser needs to win two to make the playoffs

Quite right. Last year Chauncey said, "Every team needs a CJ Elleby."

Okay. I think there is kind of the same thing going in the east with Raptors and Hawks? Still not a bunch of ramifications today. The Mavs throwing games did change the entire outlook for the play in.

So is Shaq Harrison playing for us today then joining the Lakers for the playoffs?

might as well drop this here:

according to Spotrac, Portland exercised the 2023-24 option on Keon Johnson last October. that's for 2.8M. I sure hope that was because of planning to use that salary as trade-filler. either Mays or Harrison would be better deep bench backup PG's

Yeah, I remember that from the Fall. I can understand that it was worth the gamble to see if he could take the next step (it appears he hasn't). Even if he is on the roster next year, it's kind of meh, not really devastating. But yes, if the Blazers make a bigger move (i.e. something involving Simons/Nurk/Nas), I'd assume the Blazers will try to attach as part of the deal.

Does this mean he'll be a free agent? 22-23 season is ending today...
