This thread happened a few days before Waiters cancelled everything. DX mentioned that Olshey "fell for" Waiters -- but I'm guessing our scouts had more to do with that than him. Without a GM I'm pretty sure the scouts had a gameplan in place for the new GM this close to the draft.
I like that he averaged 1.8 spg in 24 min That said, this guy measures smaller than Rodney Stuckey. He's undersized. Waiters at 6 and I'm going for Olshey's head
I think he'll be decent, but I also think he's being kind of overrated. I really have no idea how well he'll transition to the league.
Every scouting report says that he can get into the paint at will and can absorb contact and finish. That will translate.
Gordon has a longer wingspan and a 40" vert. Gordon was a prolific scorer in college, Waiters averaged 12 pts a game.
Syracuse guys are always shitty defenders because all Boeheim plays is a zone. Horrible man defenders I tell ya.
That's one aspect of his game, but there's others that there are question marks about (just like every other prospect of course). I'm always really interested to see how guys with perceived attitude, motor, or mentality issues translate. I think the only one of those that has been mentioned with Waiters has been attitude though.
Eric Gordon, 6'2-even w/o shoes, managed to average 21 PPG with a PER just under 20 in the past two years. I'm not comparing athleticism but Waiters is athletic as well.
Those are your words not mine. Gordon has a 6'9" wingspan and a 40" vert. You're the one who compared Waiters to Gordon, I'm telling you why they are different. You brought up Bayless. If were comparing a player to Gordon, it should be Beal.
Almost 2" in wingspan seperate Gordon and Waiters. Thats a big difference. Gordon's 40" vert is elite atheleticism.
But only an inch in standing reach. Moot point considering you don't even know what Waiters' vert is.
