Sporting News is reporting a Bleacher Report rumor that Portland may be interested in a return of the Buffet of Goodness that is Channing Frye for a Playoff run.

Trying to get the link and confirm.

I'd frickin' love this! Bring home the homeboy! Keep Portland weird once again!

Not to mention he has another two years on his deal.

Bleacher Report? Haha, cue @BlazerWookee Not with the length of that contract and Olshey trying to stay flexible. I don't think we need another big man unless we send one out. You could make the argument that some on our team (like Vonleh and maybe even Ed Davis) already don't play enough as it is.

No.

In what universe would Frye play over Leonard, Vonleh, plumlee or Davis
In a universe where you value the 3 pt shot...but I don't for a second believe he'd be a starter and more than likely, we'd trade one of those guys in the deal

Leonard can hit the three. And Vonleh can too (he did In college).

And you're eating 8 million per year into our cap space next year.

No no no no no no no

The Bleacher Report report I've found so far doesn't mention the Blazers, just that teams have begun inquiring about him.

No no no no no no no
More than likely, you'd lose Davis in the deal and be able to slide Leonard to the center and utilize Frye at the 4

Then yeah. But I don't see them doing so. that pick is valuable. Much more than meyers Leonard bird rights. And much more than offloading fryes deal

There's a lot of shitty GM's in the league, including the one who traded Harkless for a 2nd round pick.

That wasn't a shitty deal. Perry Jones iii is a free agent and could be doing just as well as harkless on our team for free.

Frye is owed 7.5 mil next season and his contract expires.

At age 32, I don't have much interest in him, and he's not really better than Leonard this year.
He signed a four year deal in July of 2014. Was his fourth year a team option?.

Man, that means Meyers REALLY sucks.

Per 36 numbers:

Frye: 11pts, 6.8 rebs, 2.2 asts, 44% FG, 40% 3pt
ML : 13.8pts, 7.7 rebs, 2.5 asts, 45% FG, 35% 3pt

Sean Deveney had this in the Sporting News: http://www.sportingnews.com/nba-new...-frye-aaron-gordon-scott-skiles-mario-hezonja

"Now, league sources tell Sporting News, changes could be coming to the Magic’s promising young roster ahead of this month’s trading deadline. Already, the team has received multiple inquiries on big man Channing Frye, who despite being 32 years old and having two years and $15.2 million left on his contract, still is considered a commodity around the league because of his combination of size, defense and perimeter shooting."

Frye is having a great Old Man Season for him; 40% 3p shooting, 90% ft shooting. His ORtg and DRtg are sensible and good.

IF you don't plan on re-signing Leonard because you don't want a gimmick 3-and-no-D center in your offensive scheme, AND you want some vets for a playoff run, AND you think you can convince the GM of a bad young team with an old guy that you have a young guy that is a plug-and-play replacement for their old guy...

Maybe we have a side deal to trade underperforming young guys (we have a couple) added in. There's a lot of angles Neil can exploit here.
