He's got 10 mil due next season. Dead weight salary right there.

According to Basketball Insiders, the next 2 years are both Team Options and next season may only be partially guaranteed.

Partial guarantee of $10 million on $10.5 million salary.... so ~95% guaranteed. Its only next season though.

and as discussed yesterday we can use the 3 yr stretch provision so it's only 3.25 mil per if we want to
 
So according to ^^^, Portland is sending picks OUT for Varejo? They better be Top-55 protected.
 
Kaman most likely is the expiring, but sending OUT picks?...

Stretch doesn't reduce the cap hit only spreads it out over many years. I'd rather take the whole hit next year. We can always trade him to an under the cap team if we have to and there will be ~20 of them.

Awaiting the picks but sounds like a good deal.

Guessing we cut Cliff Alexander... unless Montero has unimpressed the coaches.

or we agree to a buyout with Andy or Kaman is gone?

That's how they reported it at first when we did that Haywood deal.
 
if it's Kaman + ?? for Varejao, no need to cut anyone. and that keeps some cap space.
 
Makes you wonder; why didn't Orlando just keep picks we are getting and Varejao salary?

Kaman is ending while Varejo is partially guaranteed for next season.
 
I think Orlando will be sending us a decent draft pick or picks. They are looking for cap room for this summer.

do they have enough capspace to do that? and they probably don't want that next yr of Andy for 9 mil plus
 
Why do this if you can't get a pick out of it? Doesn't make sense. We don't even need varejao the player. Who's he going to play over?
