On when Al-Farouq Aminu might return topractice:

“He’s getting better, but there has not been a date set. I really can’t say. I’m hopeful[that he will return during this trip].”

Aminu is a SF IMO, he has had to play PF out of necessity... a starting front line of Aminu, Vonleh and Nurk would be the best rebounding front court in the league.

I am ready to try it out. Give him a game or 2 first to get acclimated back in...I can't see a drop off going from Harkless to Aminu though at SF.

I prefer Vonleh to Aminu. We just need some toughness up front. Vonleh can score in the paint, and is stronger inside overall. Aminu's perimeter defense is really over-rated IMO, Vonleh is just as good for a PF IMO.

When Aminu comes back I hope Stotts benches Hark. Maybe that will wake him up

No doubt about it. It used to be that Harkless was the better perimeter shooter so he made more sense starting, but he's only hitting at 25% from three right now. Aminu's at .433. I can't wait for Chief to get back.

Yeah I love watching Aminu dribble as our third ball handler too!

don't disagree but I really like Aminu playing SF next to Vonleh, the D will be very good and I think Aminu offers more on the offensive end than Hark. I think Hark is expendable and if we can trade him for capspace I would be all in, rather use his money to help re-sign Vonleh and/or Bazz

Vonleh is a massively superior defender and rebounder. And I don't cringe when he touches the ball on offense.

Make sense please. His turnovers are WAY down, he looks more confident, and is making better decisions with the ball in the open court.

He's obviously worked on this part of his game.

No one. Not even @blue9 can complain about how Aminu is playing this year. Sans the injury, he's having a great season.

Sorry, I was remembering last year more than this year. He's been doing great and I hope that continues. Playing SF will be a test for him though as he will be put in more positions to handle the ball than he does at PF.

I will ALWAYS complain about him! :)
But I do have to admit, I've liked his role the past couple weeks. ;)
On a more serious note, before going on vacation (and before his injury) I did notice that he was dribbling up the court far less than in past seasons. That's a good sign. But I don't expect his 3-point percentage to stay where it is, and once it comes down there'll be very little reason to play him, except to light a fire under Harkless' ass.

It was a fairly simple post...you should be able to figure it out

So who on the team doesn't want to be here?

Besides, how do you know Davis doesn't want to be a starter elsewhere? Accepting a role doesn't necessarily mean he's happy with it.

I've listened to both guys talk....they are team first guys and they happen to like Portland...I happen to like them....they don't complain about being lower paid than some bench players, etc....these are my observations and opinions and really, they're not debate material eh? I actually like every player on the roster this season...I'd say Shabazz might wish he was starting somewhere if anyone.
