So, the confederacy is part of our national history and statues of it's leaders should be preserved - but the national monuments? Nah.

I gotta give him the props. For someone whose actions are so so un-american - he sure pulled a great con job under the excuse of patriotism.
 
Umm...isn't this basically just land they are opening up to drill for oil? Not really a "monument".
 
Fake news. It is still public land, with full protections against misuse.

Only differences are accessibility has been restored to the ridiculously enormous buffer zones that were added, and maintenance costs will now be covered by agencies that can afford them which the NPS could not.

Seems like it should have been a state issue and an overreach by Obama and Bill Clinton on the law. I mean one of the parks was just designated last year as a "monument".

I was thinking more of the 'not giving a shit about anything' definition of not caring, but lack of empathy probably fits too.

Not too many people would claim lack of empathy as a good thing.
