CJ, Nurk and Harkless plus #1 pick
AD and Mirotic
I don't think you win the auction & get AD without including both.I'm all for taking a big swing but giving up both CJ and Nurk is overpay for no guarantee that AD will re-sign. One or the other plus change.

I think we should be cautious. It's been working so far.
At this point if you keep Dame then you have to take risks. If it doesn’t work then you blow it up anyway and are halfway there.
At the end of Dame's time here in Portland I'd rather be able to say at least we took one big shot at a title instead of thinking about failing to put better players around him.Yeah but if you blow it up then you at least need draft picks in return. In this scenario if AD did not resign with Portland then you get nothing for him, CJ or Nurk.
Having said that I would not be upset if they took the chance. If you added AD to the Blazers I think Nurk becomes less effective. AD needs to be in all the pick and roll plays with Dame. And on D his 7'6" wing makes for a pretty good rim protector. I would roll with a Collins/AD front court.
No way Curry replaces CJ like some suggest but maybe they could pick up a vet like Wes to fill in until the youngsters get better.

I know AD is better, but why not just continue to get Nurk more involved? Their percentages are essentially equal. Yes, Davis can shoot. And put the ball on the floor. I do agree those are big advantages. But when it comes to shot for shot, he's not a huge improvement over Nurk.
Also, I know defensive metrics are flawed. But their defensive metrics are essentially equal. We saw a HUGE jump in our team's defense when we traded Plumlee for Nurk. I don't think we see a significant jump in our defense by swapping Nurk/AD. So we're back to just receiving a moderate offensive increase.
But then you delete CJ from the team and that puts us at a net negative. Davis can replace CJ's offense, but he can't replace the offense we get from CJ+Nurk. So now we're at a small defensive improvement and a moderate-t0-large offensive setback.
Factor in the fact that Davis makes more than double what Nurk makes. Factor in his injury history. Factor in the fact that NOP has mostly sucked with him as their best player. And I think it's an absolutely terrible idea to include Nurk in a trade for him.
I didn't have anything to say in response at first because your argument makes sense. That's not to say I agree though - I still think CJ+Nurk would be a horrible mistake. Just a matter of different opinions. Those are big advantages in today's NBA and that is pretty much the reason why I would lean that way. I think a Collins- AD front court is so much better than a Nurk-Aminu front court that I would take the chance. Nurk will never be the guy who can be a lot "more involved" on offense at the end of games because he can't put the ball on the floor. If you add AD then the other things that Nurk previously provided can be replaced by someone else.
CJ is the bigger loss for me as I hate losing players who can create their own shot. And despite what some Blazer fans think about him, he is excellent at it.
But if you just compare CJ to AD then of course AD is much by far the better all around player, which is the case for AD vs most players.

But something was kicking around in my head and I finally figured out what it is, and it's the Collins/Davis > Nurk/Aminu part of your post. You're right. But it's not because of Davis>Nurk. The issue is Aminu. I think we'd see far more improvement by replacing Aminu with Mirotic/Randle/etc than we would by replacing CJ+Nurk with Davis (which I still think is a significant step backwards).
This is why the Lakers in the end will trade anything they have to get him. Hopefully they do not have enough to get it done.

Thank you. Someone who gets it.
I've said from the beginning that including Nurk in ANY package would be disastrous in the long term. If we were somehow able to get Davis here and sign him to a 3 or 4 year contract, AND include a young, top-tier Center as well (and Zach Collins is NOT that person), then I might be open to it.
Otherwise, you have Davis for a year until he fucks off to wherever it is he's going, and no Center. And likely a depleted bench, and no SG.
Why people don't see this is beyond me. We would essentially have......Dame, and literally nobody else.
That's not a risk I want to take. Ever. We were LUCKY to get Nurk, thanks to Denver's stupidity. I don't want to lose the Center we have who actually wants to be here.
You're not kidding. I remember a very sobering stat that I saw posted here during Nurk's very first game in a Blazer uniform. When he was on the floor, our team's Defensive rating was +17. When he was on the bench.............it was -42. In his first game with us. That's how much of an impact he had.
I still say CJ, Turner, and Collins plus picks for AD, but nothing more than that. And sure as hell not Nurk.

Leonard, Turner, Harkless, Simons, #25 and next year's first for AD and Moore?
Seems like not nearly enough. Like not even close.Leonard, Turner, Harkless, Simons, #25 and next year's first for AD and Moore?
Like I've been saying all along, I don't think we get a foot in the door without the willingness to take Solomon Hill.Leonard, Turner, Harkless, Simons, #25 and next year's first for AD and Moore?
