Good and Bad News on Turner

Yea it could be bad thing for Turner if that 2nd unit takes off without him. But I don't think Stotts will bench Turner and if he did I would be surprised.

Well maybe in those 2-3 games Stotts will see how better the team is without Turner

Next games is Cleveland. If we beat them handily without Turner that will tell us nothing but what does it tell us if it's close?

After that is Boston, what if we don't play that well against them. Does that mean we need Turner then? Last night the Warriors lost to a Harden less Rockets. Are the Rockets better without Harden? Bottom line is, next two games won't really tell us anything but Turner has helped this team more than some of you want to give him credit for.

ET is not consistent but he has had some very games for us. Take away the small sample size for Hood and ET has the best assist to TO ratio on the team.
Not saying he is a great facilitator, just that Curry is not either. One of them (Not both) need to play, but who is better at feeding Jake and now Kanter? How many lobs passes has Curry made to Jake compared to ET?

Turner has struggled in February, but before that he played pretty well.

Yeah, he has done better than expected, I'll give Turner that. Does Stotts play him because thinks Turner makes the Blazers better or because the Blazers are paying $18 million a season?

Turnover has a solid turnaround jumper and and shortrange jumper and throws a good lob. He should never shoot anywhere close to the arc. Never. There is a market for him but it won't command a hefty salary.

Julius -- i think Kanter has bigger issues then seeing a few fans not like Turner -- Like the fact the government from the country he is from wants him in a jail cell or more then likely dead.

Maybe you were joking but if not then i stand by what i just said

This isn’t good news for Jake. And Turner is still one of Portlands most consistent defenders. I won’t miss his shot selection though.

Turner has been playing hurt for about a month or at least that is what i have read. He has been nursing a couple nagging injuries since December.

One thing i distinctly remember is that Evan Turner was playing well the first month and there was a drastic drop off in his game this season. My personal feeling is if he is hurt? Shut him down. Play the guys and get him healthy and contributing again like he was the first 20 games.

Thanks for triggering my sense of fremschämen.

Kingspeed had commented in the "Enes Kanter" is garbage thread that it's threads like that that cause players to not want to play here, etc. It was a big time TIC.

Yes, that is a fact, but that isn't what you previously said. You stating why is an opinion though. It's really that simple.

Another fact: the numbers say Evan Turner doesn't deserve to play (look them up yourself) EXCEPT for his salary, which is at an elite level.

But seriously now, Stotts is a conservative coach. He worries about his players, worries about how they feel; he is loyal. He stuck with Moe when the whole city was groaning, and for the same sort of reason, I'm sure he'll stick with ET. Unfortunately.

You are still confusing facts with an opinion. Unless Stotts or someone that knows the facts tells you it, it's nothing but a speculative opinion on your part and you have offered nothing to support what you are posting.

I know I’m in the minority (Mexican) around here, but I like ET. Wiley vet who can get in there and mix it up in a tight playoffs series. Can get his own shot off and find others on the court when he decides to. Guy can get a call from an official in the playoffs. One of few on our roster.

There's the facts.

The facts are the facts: ie, the numbers. The speculation is speculation: ie, the processing of the acts. You insult yourself by pointing out and labeling things you see as fact or opinion when EVERYONE knows the goddamn difference...and has know since elementary school. The point of a forum, and life in general, is to interpret facts or information and come to a logical conclusion. Your conclusion is "nothing can be deduced or inferred ever." We get it.

I like certain aspects of ET’s game and think he definitely can have a role on a good team, but his lack of shooting (sometimes even around the basket) is a problem. I like ET as a ball handler on the break, he might be there best passer in transition as he does a great job of having his head up. He’s interesting as a defender some match ups (even elite players) he can be really good, and some match ups he’s pretty awful...
My main issue with him has always been that I dont believe he’s a great fit in Stotts offense, Stotts half court offense has usually almost always required guys to be at least adequate shooters and he really hurts there spacing... When they play him with other guys who cant shoot or at least dont have the respect of the defense as shooters the spacing out there is rough which leads to some ugly possessions when he’s not out there with the right group.

The thing is Turners objectively the second best passer on a team that doesn’t have many to begin with. Taking him out puts a lot of pressure on guys to win one on one matchups instead of racking up easy buckets. That will be an issue in the playoffs. Contract aside, I think he’s a little under appreciated. I wish we had someone better to fill his role, but I don’t think we do.

Learn the difference between a fact and opinion. His numbers are facts. Why he plays is YOUR opinion. Have you ever heard anyone from the Blazers coaching staff state that he plays because of his salary? Please provide the link. Now please cease with the name calling and personal attacks. It makes you look like the fool.

By the way, the purpose of a forum is for discussion of a subject. That's all.
