Minnesota and Portland Trade

Minnesota gets Hassan Whiteside, Gary Trent JR, and Portland 2020 1st round pick

Portland gets Robert Covington and Gorgui Dieng

This trade for Portland would be a no-brainer. Sure it's weird to trade our starting center but I'm ready to let Skal start and Dieng is a competent backup while guys are down with injury. RoCo would immediately help our porous perimeter defense.

Minnesota gets out of Dieng's contract which still has another year remaining. I believe on December 15th they will make a play for DeAngelo Russell. It makes sense for GS to trade him for assets and Minnesota wanted him badly this past off season. This trade gives Minnesota an additional 1st round pick to send to GS. I still don't know if Minnesota would do this right now though.

I could see trying to put together a package for Lamarcus Aldridge and Patty Mills. ..have to be expirings and probably CJ...this would be a win now move only....have a 2 year window to get a ring
I thought about going after Zion ...you'd have to give up CJ and probably all the expiring contracts on the roster

I don't even know where to start with this post.

Portland and Chicago

Portland gets Otto Porter Jr

Chicago gets Hassan Whiteside and Gary Trent Jr

Otto Porter and the Bulls have been terrible this year. This gets them out of his contract for next year. Portland may not even need to include Trent to get this done. The Blazers would then go sign Kenneth Faried with the extra roster spot. Porter can play the 3 or the 4 and is a plus 40% shooter for his career on 3 point attempts.

This and the Gallo possibilities are the most obvious ones. I wonder how long it will take for either CHI or OKC to pull the plugs on this season. Otto is one of my favorites for our team. I've posted previously on how amazing he is from the corners; his fit would be absolutely ideal. I like him more than the oft-mentioned Love idea.

I don't know why folks think Gallo is going to get you a ring anytime soon...he's way down my list of impact players that would put us in the mix right now

I like Porter but am not a fan of Faried at all...don't want any part of him on the roster

You aren't getting Zion for Dame, much less CJ + fodder.
well you've got him hyped up more than I do....he's an injured rookie right now...and I can name a list of trades I didn't think would ever happen but hey....Lonzo Ball was going to be the face of the Lakers too

Portland and Philadelphia

Portland gets Jonah Bolden

Philadelphia gets Gary Trent Jr

I think this should be something that should happen right now. Philadelphia could use a guard that could potentially provide them some outside shooting and Bolden isn't playing for them even though Embiid missed the last two games. He provides depth for Portland's injury riddled front line. Bolden can also shoot from the outside and is a decent rebounder/defender.

Well if we trade our starting center for a wing we'd need to sign someone to fill the center spot. Faried can help our current rebounding problem. I'd be fine with Joakim Noah as well but I think Faried is still young enough to count on if he has to play major minutes some nights. Noah would be like Gasol where even if he plays would he be able to give us more than 15 minutes a night? I know you didn't specifically mention Noah, I'm just trying to figure out what we'd do if Faried wasn't signed.

He's played awful this year. He's also got a history of hip issues.

Hence the buy low possibility. And only one more year on his deal if he opts in. Think the risk is low.

Otto Porter is on a load management schedule this year. This is 26 year old Otto Porter with a history of hip issues and is playing like garbage. For a team that is trying to make the playoffs for the first time in awhile doesn't that seem to raise a few red flags?

Absolutely, but i think i can look past that. The load management thing is new to me.

Obviously Portland would need to see his medical records before making a deal like that. I agree that it is a risk for an already injury depleted team but the value of a guy like that may never be lower than right now. It's tough to gauge how risky that is.

I don't really remember how it effected him during the season that year because that was the year they had the mutiny but Aldridge had hip surgery when he was 26 at the end of the 2011-2012 season.

Don't we already have a thread for this?

I love this. Like--it's not just the people who cover the team who've said this. Pretty much everyone who even follows the team casually has said this.

Okay, fine.

The previous thread was started over a year and a half ago, had over 3,300 posts many of which involved players that are no longer on the roster, and I wanted to start a clean one so people didn't skip it simply because it was such a large thread. Is that okay with you?
