Draymond is an outstanding defensive player, one of the best I’ve seen. Now, his best days are maybe behind him, not sure, but he is an elite defender.

Honest question: How many current coaches have won three separate playoff series without having home court advantage? Stotts did it in 2014 vs Rockets, 2016 vs Clippers, and 2019 vs Nuggets.

You mean, the series that Dame and LMA won, that Blake and Paul got injured, and Dame and CJ with Enes carried us? Those three series? Stotts tried to get us to lose those, Dame and company saved us.

Honest answer, why does it matter?
Stotts has been in Portland for a long time. Whats his overall playoff record?

By coaching. It's a universal thing every game. I apologize, I should have been more specific.
Come on Strenuus. You're a moderator. Let's articulate and be specific and not just trash the man who has anchored our team for 7 years including 6 playoff appearances, 4 playoff series wins, and a trip to the WCF despite several injuries. This year, despite massive injuries to our front court, he has us in the 8th spot. The Neil/Stotts/CJ/Dame stability has been a success in my book. They've given us a team that competes and will have a chance to win a championship in a small market over the next 4 years. In my opinion.

I believe he has the fourth highest playoff winning percentage in franchise history behind Adelman, Ramsey, and Dunleavy, if we're looking to compare him.

I believe he has the third highest playoff winning percentage in franchise history behind Adelman and Dunleavy, if we're looking to compare him. That's despite going up against one of the most dominate dynasties 3 different times.
Stotts will go down as the Blazers' GOAT Coach when all is said and done.

Stotts has one of the best back courts in the league, a center who is "better than Nurk", and an "MVP level" Melo. You think that equates to a 14-17 record?

Who are you quoting in your Nurk and Melo takes?

Our overall forward play has been well below league average all season and our bench is one of the worst in the NBA. Nothing wrong with the Dame and CJ take though.

Kingspeed

He will never, ever surpass Jack Ramsey without a championship.
Exactly. Stotts will win a championship in Portland and will be considered the GOAT coach. Dame has already stated that it will happen in their 11th in year so get pumped for 2023. There will be streets named after both of them.

Ok but Kerr has 8, and played his role well... you dont just luck into 8 championships... Robert Horry didnt just suck his way into rings either.
Sure you do.
Three with the Bulls and two with the Spurs. Then there's three as coach of the Warriors where even Luke Walton coached them to a championship. Kerr had little to nothing to do with his 8 rings. All you can say is that he didn't fuck it up as coach of the Warriors which you can also say for Walton.

1 ring.....8 rings....yeah, that is essentially the same.
Come on, the comparison had nothing to do with that.
Now, look at Kerr's 8 rings. 3 with the Bulls' extremely talented team, 2 with the stellar Spurs and 3 with a Warriors team that other coaches could only salivate over.

I'm assuming you think Olshey is an idiot as well because he doesn't use his eyes to watch games?

Stotts got totally out-coached against the NOP in that series, no question about it. I have to give him some credit if his 3rd tier team (by your definition) gets to the WCF's. It's hard to win best of seven-series by dumb luck. What measurable outcome could a Stotts coached team have where you would give him credit?

Again, you keep talking about outcomes while i ask you to dig a little deeper.
We're not taking the solid way to beat other teams, Stotts can't identify a momentum turn to save his life, he's doing weird subs and lineups, players are making the same mistakes over and over and over in a game.

Teams fired Rick Carlisle (DET),Dwayne Casey (as COY), D'Antoni (the genius of Nash' Suns) etc, but it would be a horrible mistake to fire this guy? what kind of black magic does he perform on some of you people?

As great as that shot was by Dame, it was tied, the series was 3-1, they won 4-1. I have my issues with Stotts but the narrative that they win because of Dame and in spite of Stotts, and lose only because of Stotts just seems like a bunch of absolutes, where absolutes wont always hold course.
.

I've never proposed a narrative in which Stotts is inherently,100% a bad coach, nothing can ever be on Stotts alone because the players are still responsible for their play.

I am saying that his players and this organization can take the good things he established and grow further with a different coach.

Stotts is an average coach. He is inflexible to a fault and doesn't hold his players accountable. And his preparation and inspiration leaves a lot to be desired. And let's not even go to the pace with which he makes changes.

But the players like him and respond to his mild-mannered nature. That's half the battle. Prolly has a lot to do with the culture Dame sets, but Stotts should get some credit for that as well.

I've long advocated for a change since Stotts doesn't have the resume of a Pop or Spo or Carlisle to warrant this kind of longevity. And a change of voice is not necessarily a bad thing. Dame, especially I felt could have had a different coach to make him more versatile and knowledgeable but what to do. That Terry contract extension is killer.

Injuries are part of the game and you can only beat the team the opponent puts on the floor. Blazers have had plenty of playoff series where they have had injuries as well. It's the reality of the game so stop putting the Blazers down for the same thing other teams have benefited from as well.

Superior team or not, the Blazers are something like 1-16 vs GS / Kerr, a great playoff coach would have figured out how to pull out a few of those. Doesnt mean great coaches dont get swept here or there, but thats pretty extreme...

One thing I have NEVER seen Kerr do is make an actual game plan that will leave Dame WIDE FREAKING OPEN time after time after time. Stotts actually did that on Curry. One of the most mind blowing things ever and no one including the media, players or fans understood why you would ever even consider something like that.

Honest answer, why does it matter?
Stotts has been in Portland for a long time. Whats his overall playoff record?

20-36. A .357 winning percentage. A eye-gauging 3-24 in series where they have been closed out. That is winning game a miniscule 11% of the time. Honestly, is there any coach in history with 20+ games in closeout series to have that inept of a record? Knew it was bad.....didn't realize it was THAT bad.

Kerr is proven he can have a ton of success with a roster of 3-4 all-stars and he deserves a ton of credit for that. How many series would you say he has won where his team had less talent?

Be very careful here.

You do realize that every team that loses in a closeout series will have a losing record don't you?

Would love to see you rankings for the following players 1-8:

Dame, CJ, Aminu, Harkless (feel free to substitute any Blazers in you'd like) vs Steph, Klay, Green, Iggy.
Again. Be very very careful here.

Did not look at all like his best days were behind him last night?
