yeah, I know this thread will be pointless if Nurk is traded in the next 20 hours, but if he isn't...

what would be the level of annual salary and total years you would be comfortable with?

for me, to start with, his contract should not extend past Dame's. Since Dame has a player option in 2024, then Nurk should get a 3 year deal. Be nice if the 3rd year was a team option or partially guaranteed

as fa

Toronto would be a decent fit for Nurk as they do need a legit 5 not to be a big time scorer but to pass and board/defend.
Chris Bou cher and some would be a decent get.

Both are FA's. You recommending a dual sign and trade?

Boucher is two years older than Nurk. Dafuq are people smoking these days man

Not more than a dollar.

He makes 12 mil per now. Based on the other center free agents, I say he needs a raise. Maybe 15 per year for 3 years?

That's where my vote went. 3 years between 12-15 sounds fair. Make anything more than that incentive based. Maybe he'll stay on the court.

Throw in some of our picks and go for Siakam. Hahaha yeah right. :(

I would be doing everything I could to trade him right now. His inconsistency is a nonstarter, his propensity for injuries is another nonstarter and what people in here are saying about what he'll probably get paid is accurate and that's the biggest reason I would trade him. We have to pay around 15M a year for a guy who has a bad attitude off and on, refuses to play offense in a way that makes sense and has a long injury history... no thanks.

If I was the GM the deal i would offer Nurk is :

2yr 30 Million plus 1 yr team option for 15 to 17m

This is the max i would offer him atm plain and simple

Toronto is supposedly high on Nurk, no pun intended, so Boucher is an OK starting point but it would have to be Boucher who we would probably let walk, Achiuwa who we would keep and hopefully a fucking first round pick but the way things have been going it will be a future second. We clear 9M more in cap space, we get another cheap young prospect and we get a draft asset.

I just think Nurk is such an old school C besides his great passing which he overestimates and gets him into trouble, that it makes no sense paying him 15M a season when you can probably get a guy that does a lot of the same things for less money or draft a guy like Orlando Robinson who has been playing college ball at a high level for three years, is big and tough in the post, blocks shots and hits threes.

I tend to agree, although:

Jonas Valančiūnas $14,000,000 $14,700,000
Christian Wood $13,666,667 $14,317,459
Dwight Powell $11,000,000 $11,814,815
Richaun Holmes $10,384,500 $11,215,260 $12,046,020
Montrezl Harrell $9,720,900
Tristan Thompson $9,720,900
Nerlens Noel $8,800,000 $9,240,000
Jakob Poeltl $8,750,000 $9,398,148
Maxi Kleber $8,750,000 $9,000,000
Mason Plumlee $8,137,500 $8,525,000
DeAndre Jordan $10,517,224 $7,827,907
Ivica Zubac $7,518,518 $7,518,518
Zach Collins $6,984,127 $7,333,333
Kevon Looney $5,178,572
JaVale McGee $5,000,000
Robin Lopez $5,000,000
Bobby Portis $4,347,600 $4,564,980
Gorgui Dieng $4,000,000
Boban Marjanović $3,500,000 $3,500,000
Dewayne Dedmon $2,866,667 $2,866,667
Dwight Howard $2,641,691
LaMarcus Aldridge $2,641,691
Enes Freedom $2,641,691
Ed Davis $2,641,691
Hassan Whiteside $2,401,537
Andre Drummond $2,401,537
Frank Kaminsky $2,089,448
Nemanja Bjelica $2,089,448

obviously, Nurk is better than most of those, although not as durable. But is he really worth 3 times as much as Robin Lopez and 5 times as much as Enes or Drummond?

on the free market, would Nurkic really get much more than the MLE? Toronto won't have more than an MLE. If Detroit offers him 20M should the Blazer try and beat that

If Boucher was part of it and he wanted to play here for a couple years and it was reasonable Id sign him. He is a decent down low defender.

Yeah, that is a good list. Thanks.
I was looking at this year's list of unrestricted center free agents and I was thinking because it was limited that it would drive his stock up.

you also have to look at scheduled guaranteed payrolls vs a projected 121M salary cap:

upload_2022-2-9_16-56-49.png

* Toronto, who is rumored to like Nurkic, only has 9 players signed leaving them less than 9M in space. That doesn't count the cap-hold for Boucher, their 1st round pick, or roster charge(s)

* Kings just traded for Sabonis - NO

* Minnesota has KAT - NO

* OKC is a threat, I guess; they don't really have a solid option at C - Maybe

* Chicago has Vucevic' - NO

* Memphis has Steven Adams - NO

* Indiana has reportedly chosen Myles Turner over Sabonis - Likely NO

* Spurs have Poeltl and Zach - Likely NO

* Detroit has almost nobody at C and are supposedly interested - biggest threat

* Orlando has Wendall Carter and Bamba (UFA) - Likely NO

really, I only see Detroit as the threat here and I think it would be a terrible idea for Portland to get into a bidding war with a team that could have 25M in cap-space
