Udoka and Collins were poised to be All-Stars this season!

Less than signed a key role player halfway through the season to help them, at least in recent memory. PJ Brown with the Celtics immediately comes to mind.

It's the 15th spot. Big deal.

I think this move is fine. I'm not a huge Mills believer, but we know what Collins and Ime will bring: nothing.

The Blazers can always cut Mills and/or Pendergraph later if they need to clear up a roster space for a healthier body.

I think KP falls in love with his method to determine who to draft. . . signed everyone of his 2nd round picks.

Canzano is claiming (i.e. speculating) that this was a decision made by Paul Allen. I can live with that for the 15th man versus his old method of overpaying for a Darius Miles or a Zach Randolph.

Canzano claims a lot of stuff . . . IMO, KP thinks very highly of the players he drafts and I'm not surprised to learn that all three of his 2nd round picks were signed . . . including 2 that were injured and really weren't able to show their stuff during camp or pre-season.

I'm sure Paul had some insight but I agree GO, I think this was KP's ultimate decision and I think its a good one.

Re: 15th Roster Spot (non) News

I thnik it is a good decison too. KP has had some misses in the 2nd round (but then you can just cut them or trade them for a 2nd round pick). KP has also had some big hits in the draft and if he see something in Mills, let's give it a shot at the 15th spot.

If Mills turns into a player . . . the fact KP got him with the last draft pick in the second round will add to the KP draft mystic.

I personally like what I see out of Mills. He might be the truest point guard on this team. I could see him being a big assist guy in the future for this team.

I also think it was Paul. He doesn't work for Vulcan, they work for him.

I think this gives the team a chance to see if this kid can preform well enough to help the team. He does have some real speed. We don't have anyone like him. He is also trade able as filler.

I was watching a you tube on him and the Golden State Warriors worked him out extensively before the draft. I also wonder if he could be trade bait for a future trade.

Re: 15th Roster Spot (non) News

Can I ask you why you can see Mills becoming a pure PG and big assist guy for us, but not Bayless?

Bayless averaged fewer shots per game (12) in college than Mills did (15). I'm not saying I see Bayless ever becoming a pure pg, but I don't see Mills being one either.

Bayless played with Chase Buddinger, Nic Wise, and Jordan Hill. Mills played with some guys named Frank and Stan, or something like that.

I see a smoother player at that position I guess.

Re: 15th Roster Spot (non) News

    Two quick thoughts:

Not long ago, teams were allowed only 12 on a roster with a 3-man IR. Teams starting abusing it to gain a minimal advantage, so they nixed the IR and let teams have 15. The point is that teams never really needed 15, and still don't. What we do with the 15th spot isn't critical.

Deal Coming Soon... I hope. I still wonder if this means that Blake or Bayless is on the block. The blazers cap situation is reduced a bit after the season starts... :dunno:

Re: 15th Roster Spot (non) News

That's not totally accurate. We can still only suit up 12 players. All they effectively did is change the name from "Injured Reserve" to "Inactive", and changed it so players could be rotated from game to game rather than before when they had to stay on IR for a minimum 5 games.
