What’s the worst case scenario for Scoot? Dennis Smith Jr with better playmaking? Maybe Eric Bledsoe in terms of a decent guard with an athletic frame and physical style, good d but not a star? what are the chances he becomes an athletic guard without a reliable jumper that causes offensive spacing issues for his team and doesn’t defend well enough to compensate for it? Does he really have an elite level layup package like prime Rose or kyrie? Because that’s what he needs if he’s not a deadeye from outside.
I think his floor is waaaaay above what DSJ turned out to be. I thought a few weeks ago that might be a comparison, but his feel for the game just seems light years beyond, and he's probably even a bit better athlete all-around.
What if we take him and he doesn't live up to the hype? We will be one of those tanking teams...oh wait.
Love Scoot. His combination of safety and upside may be tops in this draft. But there's still a large part of me that would like to see us take Amen and try a different team building strategy than the one we've watch play out the last decade
That’s how I ultimately feel. I know scoot is a great prospect that will have at least a good career in the nba. But amen just has that game that we haven’t seen in a long time. His fit particularly next to simons and Sharpe excite me. That trio would complement each other so we’ll much like the warriors core
I don’t think you’ll find someone as opposed to drafting Scoot as me, but while he doesn’t have Kyrie-level finishing, he does have a crazy midrange game — which is part of what makes Morant actually lethal — Morant has a crazy floater so he’s not entirely reliant on getting to the rim. Scoot is the same. I actually think he will be pretty good. He might even be a superstar. But he would be the first guard ever to win a championship with his attributes which is why I’m not interested.
Take Scoot at run. I can live with a Miller pick but Scoot is clearly the second best prospect in this draft.
Here is an example of Scoot scoring around Wembanyama: And here's another one where he takes a step-back 2-pointer, faking out Wembanyama and another defender:
I went from nah on draft lottery night to this is a no-brainer. On the top video I saw them get a defensive rebound, dribble with purpose down the court and pass it to a teammate for a layup. Not sure what that is called since I rarely see it watching the walk-it-down Blazers...
I started to listen, but these guys, like a lot of us, are overthinking it. If Scoot's there and your scouts think he's better then Amen, you draft Scoot and you trade Ant. Scoot won't be playing 12 minutes a game like these guys suggest. He'll be playing upper-20s.
these are also the same guys who literally lied to their viewers about Dame being upset about the Shaedon pick.
