yeah but as other people pointed out he can just say he won’t play for anyone other than Miami if he really wanted to try and tie our hands and it probably would work.

If he tells a team he won’t play for them if they trade for him, teams are going to drop out. Most likely most teams are trying to be the third team involved

Well many think, and perhaps justifiably, that it's a "players" league and they get traded where they want to go. Isn't always that way and does not have to be, Beal had a no trade clause and Dame does not. I think if the return is somewhat close we'll trade him to Miami, if it sucks I hope we play some hard ball Dame does NOT have a no trade clause - who would blink first?

We can but no GM is going to take on a disgruntled superstar and our front office doesn't want to be seen as one that doesn't work with a guy that's been as loyal to them as Dame has. That being said we don't have to take a shitty deal. Also as much as I see online that Dame will only go to Miami, I feel like if we got him to Brooklyn in a deal that was good for us and left them competitive, I doubt Dame's agent calls Sean Marks and tells him not to do it.

None of these GMs can afford to piss off a bunch of agents or superstars. As cool as it has been having one of if not the most respected guy in the game, right now that is not an advantage to us. If you seem like you're fucking over Damian Lillard that's a really bad look.

The Knicks? That’s the other wild card here, most likely. New York would need Portland to be interested in R.J. Barrett, but if so a pairing of Barrett and Evan Fournier would be enough contractually to get a deal to the finish line. New York also has a multitude of future picks, including three firsts in 2024, and that might make the Knicks an attractive trade partner.

That would probably be the only team I'd enjoy seeing Dame play for.

Yeah, depending on the picks we get, that looks like an appetizing deal to me

would be torture for me being 2 miles away from MSG at the moment. also a Dame/Brunson backcourt makes very little sense.

    Question for folks:

If you were Sacramento fans, would you have made the Halliburton for Sabonis trade? That’s a pretty apt comparison for what we chose not to do.

how ugly are we ready to let it get?

dame has 4 yrs left on his deal. he's not a FA where he gets to choose the ONE team he wants to play for. he waited too long in this offseason to demand a trade.

what leverage does he have? And are we past the point of no return on his demand?

fox, haliburton backcourt wasnt working (and if charlotte drafted scoot, it would be the same thing, two pg who cant play together), so they had to trade either fox or haliburton and sabonis was an all-star and a center/power forward, which made him a good fit on that team and we can debate if they shouldve traded fox instead of haliburton (maybe they tried and indiana said no, who knows), but it was a rare win-win trade for both teams and fox himself is an all-star, great player

Not sure, but as of now, it's a formal request with apparent conditions.
If offers are a joke I wouldn't just give him away to Miami.
He could be here into the season like Durant was and Harden might be unless something reasonable works out?

Im sure it bothered Dame that it looked as if Simons would be odd man out for trade purposes. Even knowing we would have to use his salary.

exactly what i'm thinking. KD played until FEB and was traded like 7 months after his demand
