Congrats to Dana Altman! http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...om&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial
Gonzaga will still be better. If the Zags had the resources of schools like Oregon, they'd be a national powerhouse.
He might be a 4-year-kid, but I don't think it's out of the realm that he develops enough to make a team one day. If he ever starts shooting like he did in HS then he's got a chance.
I love this signing, and I'm not really much of a Duck fan. He bears a striking resemblance to his dad. I was a big fan of his father, as a humanitarian, and was deeply saddened by his death from Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (my son has the same affliction, so Manute's death hit close to home for me - literally). I loved these two quotes from the article: "And I thought a lot about my dad and what he might tell me right now." His dad was such a well grounded, compassionate human being. I loved his appearances on Letterman. I expect his son will be a positive asset to the team and the community. "I bet they might even have a pair of LeBron 3s that finally fit me." Playing at the University of Nike, I'm sure they will make him any shoe he wants in whatever size he needs. BNM
I will make a deal with you Bones. I will respect the Bulldogs and refrain from making any snide remarks about Few and your team. I will say good things about all your players esp. Hachimura (who is of course very good.) But lay off Pritchard. Im a West Linn graduate and saw him play as he grew up. If he's not NBA quality.... Then he's not NBA quality. He has a bad game. He has a bad game. But I take more than just a passing interest in his career. It's more the hometown hero thing with me.
Met him this summer at an open gym. He was playing with Dame and Steve Blake and some other guys. Introduced myself and my son to him, telling him we were huge Duck fans and had a blast watching thier run last season. He was very cool and down to earth. Wish that kid the best. Hope that this wasn’t considered bragging.
In college, the #1 selling point is the coach. Once the perception is created that he is good, recruiting gets easier. Look at Ralph Miller...at the end he was pulling players to Corvallis from the inner cities, as well as internationally, all because of his reputation. (Certainly not his personality)
I don't know about his personality but he must have been a great salesman. I met a St. John's fan once who told me that Gary Payton was all but set to go NY and sign with Lou Carnesecca. But somehow the trip from Oakland got put off and Miller swooped in to pluck Payton away. Maybe the guy was full of shit but he seemed pretty convincing. Getting a once in a generation player like that to come to Corvallis must have taken quite a bit of legwork.
Pritchard was drafted #34, and his girlfriends while GM here were Blazer cheerleaders. So their kids will have athletic genes, whether performing a 360 dunk or a Leapin' Lora Teddy Sit. I did quality research for this post: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cheerleading_stunts#Types_of_stunts
