Roster construction:

Without Dame this team is OKC without potential/optimism.

“Exceedingly smart?” Quick, at what? Everyone saw this mediocrity from a mile away — except Neil.

The last time this fanbase brought signs and chanted for the firing of the GM?

John Nash/Steve Patterson.

Purgatory Neil is on that tier now.

Bump!

That game illustrated just how far this roster is from contending.

Everyone sees it except Purgatory Neil.

my ticket was only $9 and I still regret it.”

Blazermania is dead until they bring in a competent GM :deadhorse:

Got my wish December 2021…

At least he’s gone!!
A lot of us have been on this ride together. The fact is he was never very likable. Then he let LaMarcus walk for nothing. Then he started driving the Dame/CJ crazy train. I was just never on it. I saw two small guys that need the ball on the perimeter on offense and were not good on defense. Olshey thought that was the cornerstone of a championship team... a real dynamic duo and I thought it was a really bad idea. He went on the insane spending spree and that was it for me. From that time on he had to go.

Neil Olshey is more to blame for the situation today than Joe Cronin.

I don’t think Neil will ever GM in this league again because I think his reputation around the league’s front offices is horrible.

He’s a bullsh*tty salesman through and through and other teams bought it from him just like we did.

He fleeced BKN on that Gerald Wallace trade. You know how salty we’d be if we were on the other end of that?

He made some good moves for the franchise, but they all came at a cost. He also made some really questionable decisions towards the end.

Can we fire him again?

He was not GM for the Wallace trade. He was hired 3 months later

Paul Allen, Chad Buchanan and scouts…like Joe Cronin identified Lillard before Olshey got there. Olshey demanded control of 2nd lottery pick that year and drafted the great white hype

Olshey bots are real. I saw someone one Blazers Edge say Zach Collins is the best defensive Center in the NBA... no joke

Good point. Thanks for the clarification.

I don’t feel like that changes my belief that other organizations weren’t clamoring to deal with him though.

I wonder....we heard that Portland was looking to fire Oshey for cause because he created a hostile work environment. Did the Blazers do that?

Portland did a 1 month investigation, interviewed employees in private. I heard Olshey was a mean screamer, over the top anger behind the scenes. Neil wasn't fired because he made bad roster decisions, he got canned for unprofessional treatment of his fellow employees.

I think Neil and the Blazers confidentially settled, so we don't know how much of his guaranteed contract he got to keep or lost.

If someone has more confirmed details would love to hear them. My recollection was it was all confidential.

Olshey's contract was supposed to run through the '23-'24 season. Since he has taken a much lesser role with the 76ers, I would guess that Portland was able to void at least part of Olshey's salary.
