OT I May Drive For DoorDash....

Actually, I haven't yet begun. From what I understand, though, the "real" money is in the tips......for what that's worth. LOL

Not in it for the money, though.
We always leave the driver a healthy tip. And we leave the restaurant a healthy tip when ordering to go. In general, we are healthy tippers. My mother worked hard when I was a small child just to put food on the table and pay the rent and she got miserable tips. I'll never forget that.

If your considering doing this for entertainment and conversation then I think being a Lyft or Uber driver would be more satisifying. Not everyone wants to talk, but for the ones that do, I have some of the best conversations with my drivers.

K, I'm going with Instacart. My card arrives in a few days! This should be fun. Plus, I'll give it a shot in Florida when we're there. Probably great (intoxicated) tippers!

I shop/deliver for Instacart. I used to do UberEats and DoorDash but I've found that I make more money with Instacart and put less miles on my car because my time is split more between shopping and driving. I average about $45 per hour (gross). I also occasionally do Whole Foods/Amazon Flex like @Further.
that’s pretty good.

I meant to thank you for sharing this. I'm giving them a shot.

As a customer my experience has not been great. We regularly have missing items to the point where I am sure the drivers are just taking what they want because there is no accountability. I go through the missing item credit and get my money back but all my tips and fees were based off a bigger order and they dont change, never mind that we still need some food and Im sure the restaurant ends up eating the cost. It always ruins the night for someone when this happens and its happened enough that we have stopped using these types of services because we cant rely on them.
That's highly unlikely. Why would someone risk their job to steal $4 worth of food? Restraunts forget things all the time.

And then people stop using the platform because of it and the drivers get fucked over in the long run.

Really? I need you to explain the strats and how that works haha

Yep. If I can do it myself, I'll do it. Not paying someone $4 dollars and THEN tipping them for doing something I can do myself. That, and restraunts take a hit on every order.

Ride shares make sense... food delivery doesn't. Just do it yourself.
Restraunts would not be doing it if they took a hit on every order. Quit spreading misinformation that fucks over drivers.

There is accountability. In some ways, too much. All platforms differ but with Whole Foods/Amazon Flex, if a driver is late or if a customer complains about missing something the lower the drivers score. As the score drops, the driver 1) will be offered fewer driving blocks, 2) will be given shittier blocks with more distance driving and 3) they will earn fewer points which help towards getting savings on gas, insurance, good and bunch more.

I have had my rating affected several times for issues way outside my control, like traffic jams, customers ordering the the wrong address and missing items.

if a driver was taking stuff, it would be very quick for the algorithm to figure that out and demote or ban the driver.

This has never happened to us. Wonder if you live in a bad area.
