Putting 'Profits Over People', Senate Rejects Paid Sick Leave for Rail Workers "Senate Republicans and Joe Manchin have yet AGAIN failed working Americans by voting down seven days of paid sick leave for rail workers," lamented Rep. Jamaal Bowman. https://www.commondreams.org/news/2...e-senate-rejects-paid-sick-leave-rail-workers Congress just sided with Warren Buffett over American workers. Fuck them.
I'm a once-upon-a-time Teamster and generally a very pro-union guy. That said, as I understand it this isn't really 'forcing the union to accept the railroad's terms'. The government already brokered a settlement a couple of months ago between the railroads and the unions, and 8 of the 12 unions voted in favor of it. That doesn't mean it's a fair deal - quite possibly the unions deserve better - but it apparently isn't a completely one-sided deal. barfo
53 senators voted in favor of paid sick leave. As usual Moscow Mitch blocked it. The Senate is by itself undemocratic (California has a bigger population than 21 combined states) and Mitch makes it even more so. A majority isn't enough to pass anything because he will block it.
Biden is not left wing. He's not progressive. I'm not sure why people are surprised. He has historically supported everything bad about both parties. He is simply not as crazy as Trump. That's it
War Industry 'Celebrating Christmas Early' as House Passes $858 Billion NDAA "There is no justification to throw... $858 billion at the Pentagon when we're told we can't afford child tax credit expansion, universal paid leave, or other basic human necessities," said the consumer advocacy group Public Citizen. "End of story." https://www.commondreams.org/news/2...christmas-early-house-passes-858-billion-ndaa
Bowman, Warren Push Biden to Protect Renters From Corporate Price Gouging "My community is being crushed by the burden of high prices and wages that can't keep pace. Meanwhile, corporate landlords and other profit-driven companies are bringing in record profits," said Bowman. https://www.commondreams.org/news/rent-protections
