In the first scenario Hakeem has a career ending injury his 1st or 2nd year. In the 2nd scenario, same thing happens to Stockton and Jordan.

Why do you wish injury on these guys? Fucking MM! :)

I definitely remember that the Blazers wanted Stockton. I was disappointed when we couldn't get him. Then he became one of those players who I disliked on the other team but would have loved as a Blazer.

40lbs for the bar and 2 10lb weights?!?

Durant can bench more than that.

Does that look like a bench press to you?

They're working on correcting imbalances more so than gaining strength.

LOL. Looks like he's doing weighted left leg lunges. Is the left leg the imbalanced one?

Jake Layman is going to be a Portland version of Gordon Hayward. Bearded, willing to drink Pabst Blue Ribbon, and does not consider himself a free agent destination.

I don't know what to make of Layman yet. I didn't see him enough last year. He has kind this lazy awkward running style and then you see him make this amazing dunk and you're like.... WTF! If he turns out to be a decent player then Olshey will be smiling somewhere.

We'll see... I just don't see minutes for him unless we trade Aminu. I like his athleticism. If he can consistently hit swish3s and play solid D maybe he won't end up like Claver.

Every shot Layman takes looks good......nice arc, good rotation good form.....it just didn't go in very often after that first couple of games. I think with practice and confidence, he has the ability to be a very solid shooter. He also handles the ball fairly well, seems to have a good bbiq and is more athletic than I thought. It's going to be tough for him to get minutes with Hark,Crabbe, Turner, Aminu, Swanigan, Collins all possibly getting minutes at the 3/4.

I'd like to see him get some regular minutes though.

He bends the bar in half and bends it back with each rep though

45 lb bar and those bands hanging the weights are for resistance training. It makes sense that he's going light while rehabbing an injury.

He's a guy I wouldn't be surprised to see make a big leap in his game...he's got the skills and motor already..his shot looks good...he looked good in D league too last season...on defense he was better than his D league competition by far.

    Regarding the Collins video:

Y'all trippin'... Stop nitpicking. The interview was fine. There was also a loud buzzer that went off that killed the flow a bit. He handled that well, didn't say too many ya knows (he's got the ya know syndrome), and solidly handled the rest of a rather routine interview.

Nice job for your 1st Day Z.

Layman is my pick to make a jump this season. I think he'll earn his way into the rotation. Out of harkless/Aminu/Turner, he's the best bet to develop a consistent jumpshot. He's not the athlete harkless is nor does he have the strength of Turner, but he has the best all around game in theory.

I know this is going to sound ridiculous... but we have a tough schedule. Boston, Utah, and San Antonio coming fresh off the Utah summer league. Honestly I like that. Would rather play teams who have 'warmed up' so that our guys get a good challenge.

I'd like him to earn minutes. But if he's earning minutes at the 4 something's wrong.

Layman looked really good on the floor. (OK, his defense was rookie-esque.) Like you said, his shot looked good. It just didn't go in the basket, almost like he a hex on him or something. It was strange to see his shots keep missing. If his shot had been falling at any reasonable rate, we'd be having an entirely different conversation about him. I'm going to do that fan thing and hold out hope all those misses were just a fluke, and those shots are going to start going in this season. Honestly, if he shoots well this year, he's a very good prospect.

What can I say, it's the season of hope.
