With some pretty decent players getting shit canned, Scola may be next, what teams are under the cap that we could be bidding against?

I can't believe Scola is getting amnestied! Now I regret us signing JJ Hickson. Will Scola go to the Heat or the Lakers?
I would hope we try and get Scola. I would even talk to Hou before they amnesty Scola and let them know we could give them a pick and take back Scola. I'm afraid if Scola makes it to amnesty someone like Mia, LA, Bos or the Nets etc will get him. He won't even consider us. IMO Scola is better then anybody we could get in FA this year or next.
Coon #67 said:In order to submit a bid for a partial waiver claim, the bidding team must have cap room equivalent to the portion of their bid that would be charged to team salary in that season, plus the amount of any likely bonuses (see question number 72) for that season. If necessary, teams can create this cap room by waiving non-guaranteed players, but not by making trades. The team must make the cap room available immediately upon being awarded the amnesty claim. In order to submit a bid for a partial waiver claim, the bidding team must have cap room equivalent to the portion of their bid that would be charged to team salary in that season, plus the amount of any likely bonuses (see question number 72) for that season. OK thanks for the info. I guess then we would be in a decent shape to bid on Scola when/if he is amnesty. I still wouldn't mind us talking to Hou first to make sure we get him because I think almost all teams with cap space would bid on Scola and run up the amount.

Supposedly Dallas is more interested in Brand since he has an expiring contract. I think we'd have a real good shot at Scola. If we could get him for around half of his full contract he'd be a steal.
When does the bidding start and stop?
I think it is a one week period for bids to be in and finalized.
72 Hrs. Brand's ends tomorrow afternoon.

the question might be: Do you like Brand at 2M better than Scola at 6M?![]()
http://www.hoopsworld.com/amnesty-claim-on-scola-prohibitiveAs confirmed by cap guru Larry Coon, a player with a partially guarantee salary requires a minimum bid of the non-guaranteed amount. Scola is set to make $9.4 million and $10.2 million over the next two years. His final season is for $11.0 million with just $1 million guaranteed.
Therefore a minimum amnesty claim for Scola would start at the non-guarantee portion of exactly $10,041,037, per year.
Few teams have that kind of cap space. Would a $30 million investment in Scola the right move when he can just clear waivers and get an offer at a more economical rate?
Instead it remains highly likely that Scola clears amnesty waivers completely.
In a similar situation, Darko Milicic of the Minnesota Timberwolves, also an amnesty cut, has just $1.8 million of his salary for 2013/14 guaranteed out of $5.7 million which would set the minimum bid to $3.9 million. He too may hit free agency without a claim.
The case is different with Brendan Haywood whose final year is completely non-guaranteed. A claim could be sent in at just $1.35 million per year over the next three, which is certainly a reasonable amount for a solid, if imperfect, seven-footer.
I like Scola. But, with the resigning of Hickson does it really make sense to go after another 4 that deserves minutes?
Not really. What you guys really need in the front court is a stopgap C.
