I would wager to say that only 30% of the population will be offended if I called them brother. I will still call them that anyway. :bgrin:

    To their faces!

    I like "man" or "dude."

    It's pretty generic.

It was last year when Dame was in that serious shooting slump because his finger was all jacked. There was even video of it. They crossed paths in the tunnel still in street clothes. Dame reached out to shake hands and CP shook his hand and you could see gave an extra little squeeze. Dame immediately did the little "Damn that hurts' hand wave, and Paul literally turned around with a big cheezy grin and said something to him.

People try to use the term PC to avoid having respect for another demographic. I'm sure there are many here who have previously used the term "Welched" or "Gypped" (hated typing those). I know I have. When we find out how offensive those terms are we change our vernacular accordingly. In this forum people regularly disparage French people as a whole. Calling them soft etc. They say this knowing full well they would have loved to have Tony Parker or Rudy gobert on our team. Those are the very same people that are fighting and dying right next to us. Those are the people that are also affected by terrorism just like we are. They are our brothers.

I am offended by all racism. I don't just call out white people. I call out black people regularly. Even people in my family are still ignorant. By it's members, I am regularly called the voice of reason and referred to as the MLK of the family because I constantly check them on behaviors that have been used against us that they are currently exhibiting (here goes MLK....).

My contention is: Why emulate what you hate? I hate racism and am affected by it everyday. I truly don't believe that Schilly is racist. What I will say is that there are times when we exhibit a racist like quality and don't know we are. It's the reason why I don't join in all the lawn mower jokes that are hurled at @HCP (for the record I HATE those jokes but he has chosen to let them slide). The only way we will end this so-called race problem is to call it out when it happens and to make fun of those who are racist. It's only 30% of our country but that is a huge amount of people. If the remaining 70% of us band together we can end in our lifetime

I heard Ru Paul started some kind of outrage for using the word "tranny."

    Ru Paul.

I hate what this country is becoming. I really do.

It is derogatory. Maybe you should just consider having respect for others instead of wanting to say the racist and disparaging things that you used to say? :dunno:

I for one love that this country is trying to be respectful to each other.

Here's the problem - you're using racism as a catch-all for any kind of generalization. You really shouldn't do that. People react VERY strongly when they're accused of being racist because of how society responds to racism.

Let me give you an example - I was one of the lead lifeguards at a HOA. My responsibilities were to make sure people got breaks/lunches, that people were doing their job, and to send people home if we had too many lifeguards and not enough people in the pool.

I had a lifeguard working for me who was of Jewish heritage, and was born in Iran. I thought we were cool. We used to talk a lot and we were on friendly terms. He had been a lifeguard longer than me, but I got promoted over him, and it didn't sit well with him. If I asked him to do something, he wouldn't do it. Part of being a lifeguard is that you spend time cleaning. You clean the pool, you clean the locker rooms, you clean the deck. It's just something that you do to pass the time. Everyone did it, including me. He just wouldn't clean. I'd ask him to go clean the locker room, meanwhile I'm cleaning the deck and someone else is cleaning the pool. He wouldn't do it. I'd go check his work and nothing was clean. Still dusty as hell.

I brought it up to my boss, and he said to just keep giving the guard more cleaning tasks and to track his progress.

Finally, one day the pool was empty and we had five lifeguards on duty. I asked the guard in question to go home. He walked out of the pool area and straight into our managers office and accused me of racism. It was extremely offensive to me because I had never said anything, I had never treated him any different, and I actually really liked the guy. It boggled my mind that he would accuse me of this. He said that I picked on him, which was mostly because my boss had asked me to give him more cleaning duties.

The HOA was horrified. They put him on paid leave. They never tried to resolve the issue. They didn't care what my side of the story was. They started nit picking everything about me. After a week they fired me because I propped an emergency exit door open so I could carry something from the pool area to a storage room. That was their reason. I propped an emergency exit OPEN. They said I was being unsafe.

People take claims of racism very seriously today. Similar to sexual harassment, domestic abuse, and any other kind of discrimination against a protected class.

You are on the wrong side of History if you complaining about things being too PC.

So in your lifetime you had an instance of somebody playing the race card. So the fuck what? It happens all the time. It also happens all the time is the other person is playing the race card card. There is a such thing you know.
