Figured this is relevant given Adidas' presence in Portland and Dame's active stature in the company.

In one instance, Gatto and the other defendants reportedly funneled $100,000 to the family of a high school basketball player to convince the player to sign with a "public research university" in Kentucky. The complaint doesn't name the university. Based on details provided, it is likely the University of Louisville, which signed a $160 million sponsorship deal with Adidas in August.

In another case, Gatto and other defendants allegedly agreed to make payments of up to $150,000 from Adidas to convince the player to join another team sponsored by the apparel company, according to filings. The university is not named, but based on the information provided, it’s likely the University of Miami, which entered into a 12-year partnership with Adidas in 2015.

Chuck The Rifleman Person got busted!

Coaches, agents, and donors giving money is something that happens at a ton of schools, BUT the news that Adidas is involved, that is NUTZ! So Adidas has an "Illegal recruiting" budget...haha

To me, this is the most shocking revelation in the entire case:

"Christian Dawkins, a former sports agent who was reportedly fired in May after being found to have charged $42,000 in Uber rides on an NBA player's credit card."

How the fuck do you run up $42,000 in Uber charges? Who the fuck is this guy, the John Madden of sports agents? Instead of flying, does he pay Uber drivers to drive him coast to coast?

This paper trail is going to cause a great deal of angst with MANY NBA players. I'm not implicating anyone, but apparently payments were made for players to attend Addidas colleges, paid them and their families throughout college, and then would pay the players to become Addidas-wearing sponsors. It's startling how involved Addidas has been with multiple NBA players from college to pros.

Nike and UA will be dragged into this as well. They are as bad as Adidas if not dirtier. I also wouldn't be surprised if some college football names go down as well. It will hit both sports for sure.

It's the timing of this that's strange. Mr. Trump trying to shift the attention to this from the NFL anthem protesting.

Maybe the "Uber driver" was a student athlete? Wouldn't be the first college athlete with a fake job. Uber would seem to be a pretty good cover.

First the prostitutes, now the pay for play at Louisville. What will it take to cost Teflon Rick his job?

Except this guy was an agent (college players are not allowed to hire agents) and he was charging the "Uber rides" to an NBA player's credit card. I think it's more likely that the "Uber driver" was actually a drug dealer and this guy had an expensive habit he was supporting by using one of his client's credit cards.

Or maybe he just liked to go for long, relaxing rides a LOT.

shits always been like this, it's a crazy industry

So if the Blazers underachieve this year start the Pitino as GM and Coach rumors....

BARF!

It’s not just adidas schools btw. This thing is just starting to unfold and don’t be suprised if a certain home state school with a history of cheating and a huge Nike budget is involved.

Interestingly, U of O's Nike contract is worth $2.99M, ranking 38th in college sports according to Forbes. The most-lucrative Nike deals? Ohio St. at $16.8M and Texas at $16.67M. Leading all schools is UCLA with an Adidas deal worth $18.67M.

You'd think Oregon's would be top 10 at least given Nike's involvement with Oregon.

Beaver Fan much?

Just look up the sequence of events with UO recruit Brian Bowen and his involvement in this investigation. Look, as a beaver fan I wish my school would cheat more. That $50,000 check Chip Kelly wrote was money well spent if you ask me. It’s just when these things start to come out you have to be ready to face the music that comes with playing the game in the corrupt NCAA recruiting landscape.
