Yeah. Most of my hope hinged on the thought that he would likely have a better pay-day in 1-2 years when the league digested the 2016 overspending, and he saw a short term deal with Portland where he was guaranteed a starting spot for at least half a year on a successful team, and a possible deep playoff run would bolster his value even more. As is, he's in a pretty strong position, and the deeper the Blazers run, the higher that catbird seat.

i think he will want to stay here no matter the price. he feels the most welcomed he has ever been in his career. for some players, that means more than money.

We're definitely a Finals contender with Nurk now. Even without Nurk we have a puncher's chance against the Warriors in my opinion.

I have heard him say that. "It's not about the money.". I can't post the quote though. TBH, I may have just dreamed that last night. Lol. I'll look around for it.....

EDIT: I THINK Brooke was interviewing him. Anyone else remember that???

Oh yeah. I totally agree with you. Denver first, but yeah, we can give GSW a run for sure

I think the number of true free agents has been a little exaggerated

however, it's not exaggerated when it comes to C's:

    Enes Kanter

    Aron Baynes
    Nerlens Noel
    DeAndre Jordan
    Robin Lopez
    Nikola Vucevic
    Kosta Koufos
    Dewayne Dedmon
    Boban Marjanovic
    DeMarcus Cousins
    Kyle O'Quinn
    Brook Lopez
    Ekpe Udoh
    Amir Johnson
    Ed Davis

    there are also some C-PF's:

    Taj Gibson
    Thaddeus Young
    JaMychal Green
    Nikola Mirotic
    Mike Muscala
    Dragan Bender
    Noah Vonleh
    Richaun Holmes
    Kenneth Faried

looking at those lists, the C free agency might very well be a buyer's market rather than a seller's market. And even if the Blazers can't get Kanter to bite on a tax-MLE offer with options, it sure looks like they'll have opportunities to get a decent big man using either the MLE or a veteran minimum deal

Whelp, he didn't say it at a bowling alley.... Lol

You think it was Brooke he was talking to? That's gonna be real fun to try and find.

What’s the timeline on the Cousins injury? If he’s healthy for the start of the season and requires another 1 year prove it deal I’d take him if Kanter leaves, can you imagine a C rotation of Cousins/Nurk in next years playoffs:)

    I’d also realistically take...
    Noel
    Lopez(either one)
    Boban
    ED
    Vonleh

It's almost like he has a bullhorn driving around town... "THIS is my home now! I want to stay HERE!"

Done! Although I accidentally identified you as "Blew a .9" instead of "blue9."

(Anything over a .08 is illegal sooo...)

He’s a perfect fit here. Great backup to Nurk and is an effective starter if needed. It’s all about the $’s.

Especially for a man, literally, without a country, this is no small thing. And I just heard him say this was the best year of his life, because of the signing.

But, that said, professional athletes have about 5 years to max out their money. Unfortunately, as much as he likes it here, he's not going to forgo some $15 million dollars (say, our $5 million a year for three years vs. someone else's $10 million a year) to stay here. That is lifetime money.
