No, it's 14 players under contract not counting the two-ways.

You might be thinking about the rules for how many active players on gameday.

My question here is "Is there a timing thing here?"
If the Payton trade has not been finalized could they still move Bledsoe for Durant and then after all is said and done go after Payton?

order of operations does not matter. They need to be under the hard cap if they use the MLE to sign Payton, and need to be able to fill out the roster.

we dont know if KD would even want to be here. If he flay out says no then Joe should run away from the table. I still think Phx Tor and Mia ate the strongest suitors, maybe Boston too. And Dallas is anothet darkhorse.

Being upset about not trading Dame feels like going to watch the first Harry Potter movie and getting upset that they don't kill off Harry.

If Wiseman is healthy that's a helluva return. I also think it makes the Warriors even worse. They've already lost a bunch of key role players and in this trade they lose the rest of them. The only players leftover from this year's championship that got meaningful minutes would be Steph, Klay, Dray and Looney. I'm not saying they won't get some depth out of rign chasers and obviously DiVincenzo will give them production.

but....Curry-Durant-Klay-Draymond all aging out together would probably win 2 or 3 more championships

Why should I pity Dame? A superstar athlete making a huge amount of money, beloved in his city and by teammates, family man. Healthy.
In a pitiable world, I admire Dame but don't pity him.

Here's a huge question I almost never see asked - IS DAME A BILLUPS TYPE PLAYER? My personal answer is no and can/will Dame change his game at 32? Dame is a lousy defender and likes to walk the ball up the court, Billups wants his players to play hard at BOTH ends and push the ball up the court - IMO they really don't mesh.

Is it possible the GP2 offer has a contingency; that if the Blazers can complete a Durant trade then GP2 will sign for the tax MLE?

I remember Wes Matthews contract with Dallas being verbally agreed to so it was x dollars with DeAndre to fit in the cap; but if DeAndre wasn't there Wes got ~4 million more to match the offer Sacramento gave him.

sure...that's possible. And if Payton was ok with either that would explain the press conference in a couple of days

but the Durant saga (and maybe the Simmons saga) could drag out all summer. Payton won't wait that long

Look (tmOlshey)...I'll say again that Portland being hard-capped will likely impact fantasy trades a lot more than any real trades. But if Payton was willing to sign with Portland for the tax-MLE, I wish the Blazers would have done that

It was reported that GS's offer was close to the Tax-MLE. It's not contingent on anything. He only took the offer because it was more than the Tax-MLE.

What I think happened with the whole league is that the Kevin Durant trade demand made a lot of teams hold onto their PF players to include in a trade to get him...OG attempts fell flat, Collins attempts didn't pan out..nor Wood and thankfully not Bridges.....also the staff may value Nas and their rookies more than fans do at this point. People don't mention Watford or Brown or Nas much when talking about positions of need. We have guys who can cover the SF position and a couple who could thrive there as it is that won't gut the roster or eat up more cap. I'm going to go with what Schmitz and Cronin decide as far as managing the cap and assessing talent development vs trades. I love the Payton signing and think the front office really values what he does to help Dame and Ant when one of them rests. Winslow can play SF as well.
