Prediction: Dame will win MVP of the NBA this year

I think that Dame will have the best season of his career and has more guys that actually finish that we can put around him than he's ever had, with an offense that actually has movement instead of one guy setting a pick for him and the other three standing around. So I think Dame will average 30 and 10 this season on a team with a top ten defense. I think that will win him the MVP.

For the rest of the league

Who will win?
I have no idea, but I seriously doubt it will be Lillard. The Blazers weren’t able to add enough talent in the off-season to become an elite team, and the MVP always plays for an elite team.

Russ won MVP in 2017 and the Thunder had the 10th best record in the league and the 6th best in the West. I think if Dame can put up 30 and 10 on a team with HCA and a top 10 D, he'll win the MVP. You might not think he or the team are capable of that but I do.

Has a player from a team that didn't make the playoffs ever won an MVP before?

Dame is going to have his best year to date and have a team coached to play defense and move the ball for better shots in what will be a fun year for Blazer fans!

Yes, Dame will be in the running for MVP in the 22-23 season, and with good luck will lead the Blazers to the NBA Championship.

One exception does not disprove the rule.

I know this is your thing but it's kind of nuts to think that Dame - Ant - Whoever - Grant - Nurk doesn't make the playoffs.

Especially if Dame puts up MVP numbers alongside those guys. Having said that I hope he doesn't. I want to see a well-balanced box score, with about 6 players averaging around 15 to 20 points.

This is where I am as well. If Dame is putting up godly numbers, that means the rest of the team isn't carrying any weight.

Billups-ball is built around passing and moving the ball quickly.

Stotts-ball was pound the rock until the shot clock was low and either jack up a shot or pass it to some other poor schmuck who has to jack up a shot.

If Dame buys into Billups-ball, we should have a quick moving offense and I'd like to see him around 32 mpg on super efficient scoring.
