Trying to gauge the forums thoughts on some realistic trade ideas. We have a glut of frontcourt players that are at various points in terms of their contractual status, but I see no way that we enter the season with ALL of them. Anyone have any ideas of possible under the radar guys that NO could be targeting? I've given up hope on PG13 so looking for the Nurkic/Lopez types of trades.

Frontcourt - Personal rating of value - high to low

Nurkic (1 yr @ 3M)
Collins (Rookie - 4 yrs)
Vonleh (1 yr @ 3.5M)
Aminu (1 yr @ 7M)
Ed Davis (1 yr @ 6M)
Swanigan (Rookie - 4 yrs)
Meyers (3 yrs @ 30M)

Guys like Marcus Smart and Tony Allen are going to be available...Tony Allen is getting pretty old...Shaun Livingston is a free agent..Iggy is a free agent..there are solid vets that could be obtained if we let Quarterman, Connaughton, Ezeli and maybe Davis go for roster spots. It's going to be interesting but I don't see any allstar vets coming here via trade...we don't have the pieces to trade

I was really hoping we were going to use our picks to make a trade for an impact player. Instead we drafted a couple more young guys that we need to develop.

With how much Neil talks about wanting to get players that fit Dame's career trajectory, he seems to add a lot of guys that are quite a bit younger than Dame.

I don't want to see Davis,Ezeli,Leonard, Quarterman on the roster.
Waive them, get rid of them all and give some other guys a shot.
Neil should go out there and find the next Jonathon Simmons or Whiteside.

Do you think Marcus Smart will be available? I assumed since Boston elected not to draft a point guard it was because they liked how MS played in the playoffs when IT was out. I wonder about their SF situation with Crowder, Brown, and Tatum.

Realistic trade ideas from this forum? That's hilarious! We all think we can get Lebron for Meyers, Crabbe, and Turner.

Would anyone have thought that Boogie would be dealt for Tyreke Evans, Buddy Hield, and a pick?

Sometimes crazy trades happen, and ever fanbase is unrealistic about the value of their players. I was reading the Spurs forum yesterday and they think that they can trade LMA for PG13.

I think it might be smart to wait until the trade deadline. Gives someone like Meyers time to rebuild value. I want Meyers out, but I also don't like selling low.

Other than that I think the roster is set. If we could turn Harkless or Aminu into another shooter that would be great.

You know (or should) Ezeli is gone so why mention him, Davis is likely gone at some point this season before the deadline and has a little value in a trade, coud easily move Aminu if the young guys looks good early on. Quarterman is immaterial and Meyers is a huge headache

We might see Olshey make a trade before the season starts, but I doubt it. Other teams will be shopping the FA market.

The trade deadline is when Olshey will be active. A lot can happen between than and now that affects the trade value of our players.

I am hoping Swanigan impresses in summer league. Indiana hometown boy........ plus a shooter (Crabbe) plus a conditional future #1 pick (based on whether or not Paul George resigns with the Blazers) Hell throw in another Indiana player in Vonleh or (Aminu)

Yup. I'm wondering if the Collins pick was to make Vonleh expendable.

Allen Crabbe / Mo Harkless / Noah Vonleh / Swanigan

for

Paul George / Thad Young

Dame/Bazz
CJ/Turner
George/Aminu
Thad/Collins
Nurk/Davis/Meyers

No, i don't think Smart will be available.
I was pushing for us to get him before the all-star break as well.

It is much more likely that Bradley would be the one on his way out since he's older and his very costly extension is coming up.

As for Crowder, i heard Bill Simmons say that he is not the player that he used to be in terms of being a two-way player and i agree.
He can't really defend guys like he used to,he got smoked by the Cavs and he's now just an "ok" defensive player.
Do we really need his skill set together with Aminu and Harkless?

It is also important to remember that Brown,Tatum and Crowder (together with picks) are discussed as trade pieces for KP right now.

No NO NO
I'm talking about getting rid of them all NOW.

The draft just ended, it's time to scout and pick undrafted players, pro players from Europe and summer league prospects.

All these "placeholder" players are wasting valuable space for us.
There are more players that we should get rid of, but they actually have value in the trade market so there's no reason to just waive them.

So let's say that Paul George isn't happening. Let's say Pritchard is completely unrealistic about his value.

Who else is out there?

Melo?

Love?

I'm going through all the teams and there's just not a lot of options.

Actually, we can't. CLE would need to throw in another player to make the salaries match.

How sad is that?

BNM

Ibaka

Lillard
McCullum
Harkless
Ibaka
Nurkic

It's the best we will do. And it will be a Sign & Trade with Aminu going to Toronto

You're not answering the question to the OP. There are plenty of other threads in which to bitch about NO's 2017 draft. Please stay on topic.

Great post. :)

Not sure how realistic this is in terms of value, but that can be overcome with picks if necessary. Looking more for fits in terms of skillset/salary/etc...

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yarmapgh - Jordan might be trying to make a move, bringing in Howard, so moving two young and relatively ineffective players for a vet (from UNC, no less) might make sense for him. Orlando is rebuilding again, so a stretch 5 and a young athletic wing might make more sense for them. We bring in 2 young talents on cheap contracts for ED. Would allow us to ostensibly "lose" in deals that send out AC, Turner, Meyers, whoever and maintain the overall talent/value level...

I don't think Orlando trades Payton. He's their starter and he's only 23.

I won't pretend to be intimately familiar with their situation, but I was under the impression that they were very much *over* him... If that's not the case, then you're probably very right...

We are over the cap, far into the tax, we cant do a sign and trade, though I'd love to have Ibaka

They might be, but their other point guards are DJ Augustin and CJ Watson. Not really anyone waiting in the wings. So maybe they'd want another point guard prospect.
