There's actually a reason to watch a Minnesota/Memphis game: Zbo vs. Love is like Superman vs. Bizarro Superman. The difference is, Love has been schooled on fundamentals from the cradle whereas I think Zach had to rely on raw talent.
Yeah - instead of Roy we should have taken Rudy Gay, and we should have kept Zach, and then we could be the emerging Titan that is the Memphis Grizzlies!
How is the strategy a failure? The strategy was sound, unless you assume part of their strategizing was knowing Roy and Oden would be hurt.
The Phoenix Suns taking on Oklahoma City and the NBA refs tonight, OKC with 13 ft attempts in the 1st quarter to Phoenix' 2.
17 FTA now, 2 minutes into the 2nd. Refs aren't going to stop until the darling Thunder are in the lead.
you mean 2 minutes into the 2nd. Not counting tonight, of course, the Thunder are second only to the Miami Heat in FTA total (830 to MIA's 844). Of course, OKC has played 2 fewer games than Miami, meaning they shoot 30.74 FT's per game. Miami shoots 29.10 per game. Fucking rigged.
Bynum having knee probs too. http://lakersblog.latimes.com/laker...nee-after-feelling-a-twinge-durring-game.html this isn't good.
Perfect example of what I was bitching about a few nights ago. Was it Wesley who got called for the foul when slapping at the ball (A foot from the ground) and the player goes through with the shooting motion and gets all three fouls shots? Tonight OKC got screwed. Westbrook actually was in the act of shooting at mid court (As he knew the foul was coming) and only got two shots. There is absolutely no consistency with this call. OKC could have tied the game with 9 seconds to go. Why did they not at least look at the replay? Is that not an option? Either way, the refs have no clue how to call this.
There was no way they were going to give that call to Westbrook, and 9 times out of 10 you're not going to get 3 free throws for tossing the ball toward the hoop from half court.
So what is the reason? What is the rule? Intent? Neither one of them (Ellis or Westbrook) was going to shoot that ball until the fouled occured. This is not an isolated issue. It happens everynight, and I don't think the players understand the rule, and by the inconsistency of the refs, neither do they. Is there a certain distance from the basket that they refuse to call it?
To be honest, I have no idea. It's just one of those rules, where the conditions change on a nightly basis.
I remember seeing a game where Chris Paul did this near the half court line and the refs gave him 3 free throws. I was in disbelief.
After the switch you pulled this summer, I'll believe it when I see it. Enjoy it though. When some enraged Cleveland fan shoots LeBron in the face, things will change.
