And what percent of Washington has access to KGW?

At what zip code do the satellites switch the customer to a Washington station as the local NBC network station? I don't know.
I doubt KGW wants all of the games anyway.

I better correct myself. Actually KGW is not the local NBC station though out Oregon, but most of the local NBC stations did carry the KGW Blazer broadcast. I got my via the Eugene station KVAL.

Exactly. But CSN does, and now has them, and now makes them available to over 10 million people throughout Oregon/Washington, far more than KGW can reach.

The bigger issue is, imho, $$.

Yeah, it's more available for people than KGW, but at an additional cost.

Let's say someone has Direct. If Direct (and Dish) finally get their shit together with CSNNW, the cost won't go up 30 bucks a month. To get vue, it costs extra. Yeah, one could get rid of their dish or direct, but to make vue (or the others) worthwhile, it costs extra $$, and the coverage (channels available) isnt' as good.

If you're just a single person, and don't have to worry about other people watching TV at the same time (read: don't have a spouse or children), that's not a big issue.

Take for example my sister. She has a house that is not serviceable (at a reasonable cost) for internet. For her to get internet at her house would cost a minimum of 70 dollars a month, and that is for at a rate that isn't even capable of doing streaming. And she can't have cable (comcast or other) at her house either. So her only option is OTA or Direct/Dish.

The Blazers should've demanded that CSNNW, Dish and Direct have an agreement in place before they re-upped.

If it's not about $$ and it's about coverage (as they claim), they could've put the games on KPTV, and other similar affiliates around the state.

until the team tells us what the incentives are, and when the opt outs are, it just comes off as lingo that can mean anything.

They indicated that they could have received more money from Root than they're getting from Comcast. Do you think that they're simply lying about that?

Wow! I never understand why the guys on these internet boards defend the damn Blazers for making these stupid deals. Dammit! They only reach people that can get Comcast! And did not require it to be more than that, so it is not likely to fucking happen. The Warriors can do it but the dumbass Blazers office can't.
Why the fuck does anyone defend this shit??? Forget the answer.

No, but if they truly wanted the most bang for their buck, they would've gone with an OTA channel. Anyone and everyone can get those.

My sister gets KGW, I get KGW, my brother gets KGW, my uncle got KGW, my aunt got KGW...and it's not like we lived in the same city or even state.

Do we know if any OTA channels were even bidding for the broadcast rights?

Btw, the whole "reaches the whole state" argument is weird.

The vast majority of us live in the Portland TV shadow. 70% of Oregonians live in the Willamette valley. The majority of them can and do receive KGW, KATU, KOIN, KPTV in one way or another.

...and every other person who has access to streaming-speed internet. You're conveniently forgetting about them, simply because it doesn't include you.

I use Dish Network, and I'm probably not getting rid of it any time soon, but I can acknowledge that there is an option available for me, even if it's not my most preferred result.

You're missing the point. If it wasn't about money but about coverage, they would've stayed on KGW, and not gone exclusively to CSNNW.

Nothing in the 9 years since they signed with them have shown that anything will change. In all 3 parties involved.

You're also missing my point, which is the entire state of Washington. CSNNW reaches it; the OTA stations don't.

And yes, I'd have loved it if the games were on KGW, or KPTV, or KPDX, or whatever. But if those stations aren't interested in airing all the games, the Blazers can't force them to do so.

I know there's options, I just think it's kind of phony for some to dismiss the anger or disappointment because of the options. To be blunt, the Blazers aren't worth losing channels I want, and the freedom I want, to watch games.

I'd rather they give an option, BLACK OUT FREE, where you could pay 10 bucks a month for games. I'd do that. I'm sure many people would, but going to a worse channel lineup/setup is not worth it to me. Sure, it's an option, but it's still not a good one.

who gives a fuck about the entire state of Washington?

Do you honestly think that the "entire" state of Washington gives a crap about being able to watch Blazer games?

I think that there are probably more people in Washington who would like to watch the Blazers and can through CSNNW than there are people in Oregon who would like to watch the Blazers and can't because they don't have access to CSNNW.

I'm not dismissing anyone's anger--simply providing another perspective.
I'm not advocating anyone lose channels they want; simply pay extra for the service that is available.
I'd love it if they had a lower-cost streaming option, but I'm not arrogant enough to think that I know all the angles well enough to know all the positives and negatives of such an option.
