Can't argue with people who won't look at & comprehend the facts & the big picture. So many of you assume things that simply aren't reality.
you mean facts like for 9 years they've not been on dish and direct? You mean big picture like they are just using clever phrases to act like they mean business this time? you mean facts like it's mostly people in Oregon who go to games and spend money on the team and not people in Washington? you mean the big picture that if you alienate your audience (including some people who have been fans for 40+ years), you are doing it wrong? you mean those facts? Why not tell us, point blank, the "incentives"? If one of the incentives is actually something about opting out after this up coming season if nothing has been reached by the start of the season? Pardon those of us who have been screwed out of 9 years of watching games don't just jump with glee when they re-up with the same channel again.
so the option is to spend 30 $ a month extra for something that should be offered on my already expensive dish bill? Fuck that noise.
Sorry if you've already said it and I missed it, but what do you think they should have done that realistically could be done based on the information we have? Did you want them to just keep the same deal so they would have 15 games on KGW?
I had, foolishly, hoped they would have made it a 100% guarantee that they would have dish and direct signed up before they agreed. If they were about coverage, they'd want to make it so as many people could get it as is. I really doubt the # of people who are getting Playstation vue (etc) due to the Blazers on CSN being offered, is going to be that high.
One issue is like they said, Comcast has a 55% market share in the area or something like that. If they change to Root for example, Comcast drops Root then people need to have a Dish to watch the games. Now you're alienating another group of fans. Basically it's not a black and white scenario, There are so many different factors to take into account. I haven't had comcast in 5 years and wish there games were more accessible but I also realize they can't please 100% of the people. They have to have a TV partner so there hands are a bit tied when it comes to making demands from the cable companies. I dont know, just my 2 cents.
CSN (and Pac 12 Network) has offered their programming/channel to DirectTV and DishNetwork for the same price that the other carriers have agreed to. Why wont they that same price for their subscribers? Have their subscribers called them and demanded the channel? Who's the asshole?
Have they? I wouldn't know. Are there any other factors at play there? For instance, are they mandating that DirecTV and Dish carry it in their most basic of basic packages, forcing the satellite companies to pay Comcast more than if they had the option to place it in a more premium package?
Bull shit! ComCast Bay area is on Dish at the basic price. It carries the Warrior's games. ComCastNW is not on Dish at any price they carry the Blazer games. Three companies involved ComCast, Dish(and DirectV) and a basketball team. The Warrior have their games on ComCast and the Satellites. The Blazers can only get their games on ComCast. Why are the Warrior successful getting an option for everyone. The Blazers only get the game to ComCast and the customer that can access ComCast? The only difference is the Blazers office vs the Warriors office. You have to believe if Dish puts the Bay Area channel on Dish at the basic price, they would put the NW channel on also for the same deal. ComCast doesn't want to and the Blazers didn't make it a requirement.
Directv is the ONLY group that would not accept the pac 12 network at the same agreements dish, comcast, frontier etc accepted. Honestly, i dont know why dish doesnt have it. Frontier and dish kinda seem in bed together, and frontier agreed to the terms. People in portland really have no reason to complain. Vue, centurylink, and comcast are all available with csn for them. Its not just comcast. Why do you think the blazers took less money to avoid the root situation? All companies involved are petty assholes. You can bet directv is just as much to blame. And directv probably would have been petty assholes and not re upped with comcast the root network on purpose.
