In 1 week, 'Sell-Low' Joe, has managed to almost entirely erase Neil Olshey's transactions from the Blazer roster. Remaining is Nurk, who is rumored to have interest from Charlotte. CJ Nance Powell RoCo Snell ....gone. In it's place is a likely Lottery pick from the Pelicans (currently #8), a $21,000,000 TPE, nearly $60,000,000 in cap space this summer, Keon Johnson, Josh Hart's non-guaranteed contract, Justice Winslow, Alexander-Walker, a drug suspended Louzada and scrubs. At the very least from a certainty standpoint, 'Sell-Low' Joe is the GM, interim or otherwise. Neil's footprint is almost gone.
Again, I have to correct this because people are making this out to be bigger than it is, but you can't have BOTH 60 mil of capspace AND the TPE. And the 60 mil is a misnomer when we consider capholds for Ant/Nurk are almost up to 30 mil by themselves.
But the TPE can still be used this year? (I don't know, asking for real). In theory, if this is allowed, they can use it to absorb someone they care about and have a smaller capspace next year, right?
yes until the deadline, but very unlikely that we do imo. I think the impetus is there to go full tank rather than bring in players of significance.
Correct away....that seems to be enjoyable. Of course it's not $81,000,000 total in cap space + TPE. Figured that was known, but perhaps best to clarify.
Well, yeah, that is the best strategy - didn't we all agree on that once Dame had surgery? Lose as much as possible.
I'm not calling you out but that's just not completely accurate (not sure why you take offense). Here are the numbers for 2022: Dame - 43 mil Nurkic (caphold) - 18 mil Simons (caphold) -12 mil NAW- 5 mil Winslow - 4 mil Little - 4 mil Johnson - 3 mil Louzada - 2 mil Elleby (caphold) - 2 mil That's 93 mil right there. The cap is expected to be ~121 mil. In order to be able to get to the 28 mil of space, we have to waive our bigger exceptions (TPE/MLE).
Regardless of how much cap space we end up with by this summer, how did we all of a sudden become a FA destination? It would seem these assets, ending contracts, TPE's, etc, need to be used in another manner.
And I didn't even include salary for our potentially 2 lottery picks. As it stands, we are in line to have the 8th and 9th picks, meaning that 28 mil of projected capsapce becomes closer to 20 mil.
Handling millions of $$$ in clients accounts Trying to close on a house Dealing with a separate remodel project Have a new tenant moving in Working an a non-profit project ....and then this damn trade comes along. Guess which one is going to take the details hit. Appreciate the extra work.
Woj was prolly fed that tweet about 60 mil capsapce from Cronin to save face. I also forgot the Bledsoe non-guarantee dead salary of 4 mil, and am assuming we just give up Hart for nothing. So we'll have about 16 mil of capspace. LOL. So about 5 mil more than the regular MLE. Whoopdef-ingdoo
Yes this team has been blown up and is in full on long term rebuild mode. I don't see signing free agents in the summer as a way to help this roster contend. RoCo would be one of the best free agent forwards we could sign. And he is probably the least valuable of the 4 players we just lost. There aren't good starting forwards available in the summer. I'd trade Nurk for a mediocre first round pick now. But if not then I'm fine just keeping him. In the summer if he wants to resign on another reasonable contract thats good. If he wants ~$20+ million then let him walk. This team is in a long rebuild. Even if Ant is an all star next year we aren't going to be a contender. So we are at the least multiple home run moves away from contending. I get that it was time to move on from the DameCJ duo.... I'm just shocked at the speed and shit return this whole tear down happened with. Sell Low Joe has made a bigger impact on this team then most GM's do over multiple years. It surprises me so much was done with an interim GM. Although we have an untalented unknowledgeable interim owner, and meddling Vulcans, so I guess it does make sense.
