from the May 15 NBA Combine shooting: combine results: The Jump: statistical database: http://stats.nba.com/draftcombine/#!/spotup/ film of The Jump: http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/sto...ical-44-inch-second-highest-nba-draft-combine
Oh well, I researched this guy to death. One last thing. The NBA Combine occurs around May 15 during the playoffs. It is interesting but used to be unpublicized. Now that it's on NBA-TV, I should get into this next year. The database shows that 29 players participated. The list looks like the draft. http://stats.nba.com/draftcombine/#!/spotup/ Aaron Harrison Andrew Harrison Anthony Brown Branden Dawson Brandon Ashley Cameron Payne Chasson Randle Jonathan Holmes Jordan Mickey Justin Anderson Keifer Sykes Larry Nance Marcus Thornton Michael Frazier II Mouhammadou Jaiteh Norman Powell Olivier Hanlan Pat Connaughton Quinn Cook Rakeem Christmas Richaun Holmes Ryan Boatright TaShawn Thomas Terran Petteway Terry Rozier TJ McConnell Treveon Graham Tyler Harvey Vince Hunter
Wait so the knock on.his defensive potential is lack of lateral quickness... yet he tied for fastest lane agility and was 4th for the shuttle.... seriously, analysts on sites are going by color not actual numbers.
NBCSports draft steals: Pat Connaughton: If Brown is a good value at 34th, Connaughton is a great value at 41st for the Blazers, who acquired him in a trade with Brooklyn. There may not be a tougher player in this year’s NBA Draft, and while Connaughton is a lethal spot-up shooter he also had the highest vertical at the NBA Draft Combine (44 inches) and used his wingspan and strength to turn himself into the best rebounding guard in college basketball. He’s got 3-and-D potential, but his play as an undersized power forward is what allowed Notre Dame to play small ball last season. Will there be value there as the NBA goes through a small-ball revolution?
The funny thing is he out rebounded Towns ( Number 1 pick ) on the big stage. I think he was the main goal in the trade, Plumlee was a bonus. The year before he switched to PF he was the guy who guarded the other teams best player. I'm shocked Boston let the homegrown kid get past them.
Thunder Dan Majerle, he was full of athleticism as well. I had a chance to watch Pat in the game versus Kentucky. Couple of things that stood out was his leadership on the court with his teammates and his heart and toughness. I saw him go up against the towers (Towns and Causey) and literally grab the ball a couple of times when maybe he shouldn't have. But, I love his outside shot. Watching the clips of him made me think of him with his release. That and he the athletic freak Dan was. One inch smaller.
I disagree (STRONGLY). CJ has a very nice handle and a lot of herky-jerky moves. This guy's handle is pretty rudimentary. I don't think it's an accident they had him playing PF a lot.
Another crazy thing about him is evidently football was his best sport. Guy could've probably made it in the nfl as well. Nuts
I don't know who took the time to figure this out but Pat shot 50 3PT% from NBA distance last season - 42% overall.
