OT Is LeBron James already the greatest of all time?

No but the distance is not that far and he will get there if he continues at this pace.

The greatest at attracting veteran ring chasers who will play with him for peanuts. It seems like EVERY veteran that gets waived ends up on the Cavs for the minimum salary.

Jordan and Magic never had that luxury.

They also didn't recruit their Super Friends to join forces with them when they couldn't win on their own.

Lebron is not now nor will he ever be GOAT. Lebron is a great player but he has never, not even once, had a season that I would compare to Jordan.

I'd love to know what criteria people use to try to put Lebron above Jordan with. Not once has Lebron been a scoring leader in any season that he has played in the league. Lebron has a total of 9 50 point games in his career to Jordan's 30. In my opinion Lebron needs to up his game before I could even remotely consider him to be close to a Jordan.

No Jordan was better. But def one of the top five all time players. Possesses a skill set that nobody else does.

He's not there yet. But 6 more seasons, 2 or 3 more titles, you have to consider it.

It's close but Lebron is the greatest player of all time.

Also, LeBron had Wade and Bosh and couldn't beat Mavs. Also got destroyed by Patty Mills and the Spurs in 2014.

MJ left the Bulls and they still made the ECF, Lebron has done more with less talent and coaching.

ECSF.

Bulls were 34-31 and mediocre in 1995 before Jordan came back that year. They finished 13-4 and then went 72-10 the following year with a full season of motivated MJ. They added Rodman too but still went 15-3 without him in the lineup.

Point being, make no mistake that Jordan carried all six of those title teams every bit as much as LeBron's carried his.

My dad still thinks Bill Russell is the greatest NBA player of all time. He literally just said the same things now when I asked this question thirty years ago. "He even won one as a coach." To my father, there will never be anybody as good as Bill Russell. Although he says Wilt deserves mention too.

Lebron didn't even put Bill Russell on HIS all time team. Russell was pissed of too. Weird how previous generations see the game compared to current ones. This is a barbershop conversation that will go on as long as basketball is played.

How many teams were even in the league when Russell won all the titles? A lot easier to do when there is less competition.

I think my dad said eight. I have no idea. Have to go back and look at league set up. At least I got the guy to take that into account. Still won't change his mind though.

I think he's in the argument for greatest of all-time. I think it's as difficult to compare James to Jordan as it it is to compare Jordan to Wilt Chamberlain. Outliers are special in a completely unique way that make direct comparisons essentially impossible.

I think MJ was the greatest winner. Of the players I remember watching, nobody was more dominant than Shaq (although the Lakers rivalry with the Blazers made me appreciate his dominance from a different perspective than I do Lebron's). I think Lebron is one of the greatest of all time, definitely one of the greatest of this era but I don't think he is, or ever will be, the greatest ever

Also, I think both Timmy Duncan and Kobe Bryant have a case for being at least as great historically as Lebron

The question addressed one person being the greatest. There is no one person who is the greatest Because all of us have opinions. However, Colin Cowherd does make a valid point. Why not include a star from the 50's and 60's Celtics? Basketball is a TEAM game . Tennis and golf players deserve a singular angle question like this.
