Forget the shooting percentage, CJ made a statement in game 3. He made huge play after huge play all night. Denver has been trapping Dame all series and he deferred to CJ who took over the game. Denver is doing what New Orleans did last year, but the difference is CJ is playing at top ten level. I really hope this playoff run is the catalyst that gets him on the All-Star team next year. The guy is just a joy to watch. He's quickly catching up to Dame as my favorite Blazer.

CJ has always stepped his game up in the playoffs.
Guy shot the lights out against the Pelicans last year.
I think that has to do with extra time preparation. He constantly says he prides himself on his prep.
Also think it has to do with as you said, extra attention on Lillard.

I don't know if he'll ever make an all-star team though.

But between playoff CJ and playoff Aminu. Portland has some nice players who step their games up after 82 are in the books.

I love CJ and his competitiveness. And the last play to Rodney was amazing. But if you look the replay, CJ took the shot, missed it and got his own rebound over 3 guys. As CJ was taking the shot, Rodney was in the corner raising his hand calling for the ball. Because f CJ Tunnel vision, he never saw Rodney.
60+ minutes, 40 shots, 4 assist ... CJ needs to find the right balance.

The mindset of CJ. He saw Rodney in the corner on the drive. Elected to shoot anyway. That is what he says. I still have mad love for him though. He deserves to be an all star.

The right balance last night was McCollum scoring 40+ points.

CJ hasnt been particularly good this series. Had a couple great stretches, but overall hes taking a lot of shots and making an adequate amount.

Actually he has been very solid and instrumental in the success of the team in the playoffs. Other than his field goal percentage being down a bit the rest of his game has shown nice gains. He is averaging more points, more assists and more rebounds than he did during the regular season as this series he is averaging 6 rpg and 4,3 apg as well as 1.3 spg. He has also taken care of the ball as he only had 1 turnover in 60 minutes of game time last night and averaging only 2 T/O per game.

To me, this was CJ's finest hour as a player. Never has he played a more important role in a game of this importance. To me, no matter what, i'm "ALL IN" on CJ as a Blazer. I have always liked CJ and he's fun to watch, but wrong or right, thought we could use him in a potential deal. NO MORE! CJ, Blazer for life,IMO.

He is adding more to his repertoire every year. In the game today it's a must to have gun slingers like CJ on your team.

T - are you still in Denver?

The Lillard /CJ backcourt is actually pretty darn good. People used to say, we can't have both and be a good team.
We have finally shown, we can ... hopefully.
Damned, I just wish CJ would pass the rock more !!!

Cj is perfectly fine lol

He saved us last night

Exactly! Both he and Dame continue to hone their games. They aren't resting on their laurels. They continue to develop, and are still young enough to continue to do so. So is this team as a whole.

His passing is getting better, and I know it will get even better, because he has the work ethic to insure that happens.

Man totally agree and at the right times all series he has been HUGE. Doesn’t shock me tho a lot of ppl don’t show Cj love here

I believe Dame has grown a lot as a leader this year. The low number of turnovers is really a sign of maturity by our ball handlers in general. Dame used to force things and try to make things happen on his own. He is happy to defer and let others have their minutes of fame.

I don't really get the heat that CJ takes in the game threads sometimes... I get why people don't like him, he's a shoot first 2g, that at time's gets tunnel vision but the Blazers really do need his ability to create stuff he's by far there best player at going east and west to create space.
Also what is interesting is I saw a lot of people last night complaining about CJ while saying how awesome Murray is.
Their stats last night.
CJ 41 points 41% 39 over all 39 shots, 4 steals, 4 assists, and 1!!!! turn over.
Murray 33 points 43% fg over all, 32 shots, 5 assists, 1 stl, and 4 turnovers.

They're pretty comparable so if you like what Murray did you should probably like what CJ did...

Sure most teams would rather guys don't take that many shots but also it was 4 overtimes in which they played all of them. Most teams would be pretty ok if they could get those numbers from the 2nd best players.

CJ is the definition of a “volume shooter.”

The shit that drives me nuts is when he brings the ball down the floor and then goes 1 on 5 and never passes the ball. The guy really hasn’t evolved much beyond a chucker in six years.

Those game threads are pretty hilarious as there are some posters that lose reality in those threads.

There was only one guy raving about Murray and he’s a troll.

Of course CJ is going to take heat when he goes full hero ball and we don’t get good looks. I hate when one of our guys jacks up all the shots and the other four guys just stand around watching. It’s not good or sustainable offense.

The difference between CJ and Murray is CJ gets his on ISO and Murray gets majority of his on pick from Jokic. Both players like the mid range game.

McCollums shooting numbers are actually pretty good for the position he plays as he is shooting over 41% from three. He has improved his passing, his defense and running the point over the last 6 years. Some of you guys need to wake up and start enjoying what he brings and along with Lillard we have one of the most potent back courts in the league.

CJ doesn’t run the point. CJ brings the ball up the floor looking for his own shot. There’s a difference. Dame will pick certain times of the game to be selfish and look for his own shot, but he also will defer and run the offense. CJ has one mode - look for his own shot.

When it works, great, but when it doesn’t work he can shoot you right out of the game. Several times last night he was instrumental in getting us a lead, and then he was instrumental in handing it right back.

In playoff basketball teams usually rely on the stars more to win games. Its very apparent that if you don't have at least two guys that can take over in any way at any time chances are they lose in the playoffs.
CJ & Dame are two of the hardest to guard in the nab and thats an advantage anyway you look at it.
As a team we didn't shoot well from three last night and we won, thats big.

His assist numbers are up so your theory seems not to hold much water. Just enjoy the ride rather than looking to nit pick, besides his ability to score, just the fact that he can bring the ball up and set up the offense to relieve Lillard from some of the pressure is very valuable and allows Lillard some rest during the game.

It was totally obvious. Stotts started using Lillard off ball. The Nuggets could not leave him for a second. Lillard stayed around the three point line and CJ had room to dice the defense up.
If Kanter could have lifted an arm at the end of Regulation they would never have been in OT. Also if Aminu would have connected on the three that CJ set up for him that game would have been over as well.

Assists don't necessarily mean you're running the offense efficiently.

Westbrook averaged a triple double. Do you think he was running their offense efficiently in the first round? Was he making good decisions with the ball?

This is a thread about CJ taking it to another level, so I'm having a conversation about CJ.
