I'm curious where the board sits on this one.

Are all these reports about CJ about Neil trying to increase value, or is he really fucking this up?

I don't think he's deliberately trying to do anything. All the leaks are coming from outside Portland. Even Fischer admitted that the Siakam/CJ stuff is what everyone around the league were discussing.

Fischer is more connected to the Raptors FO, from what I've seen/heard. He's actually QUITE plugged in to many behind the scenes aspects of the Raptors and regularly goes into Raptors related Greenrooms to discuss them (more so than other teams). Some stuff that hasn't been reported too publicly are things like how the Raptors liked Barnes more than Suggs, or how the Raps had a choice between Achiuwa and Herro and chose Achiuwa, or how Masai really loves his African players more than others...

So it wouldn't surprise me if the CJ/Siakam rumors come with more of a Toronto slant. Like maybe Masai offered Siakam for CJ and a few picks and that is why Portland was not interested in continuing the conversation.

But it's probably equally true that Olshey overvalues CJ and wouldn't deal him for anything less than a rip-off type deal. There is enough noise on that front to make it believable.

I don't think we know what's really real... if we're getting offered nothing but garbage contracts and future picks, it'd be hard to justify that (since it would hurt us in the near term, which is the thing we do NOT want to do while Dame is here).

It doesn't seem to me that it's clear there are GOOD trades to be made out there, so I can't blame him for his inability to trade CJ (other than how much we paid him in the first place, which is NO's fault, of course).

I read in here that Fischer say's, a matter of factly, that Neil doesnt want to trade CJ, then I see Fischer state, Portland and Toronto have had discussions about CJ/Siakam?

Lmao in 20 minutes its already:

Smart: 0

Moron: 11

When you know, you know.

If you don't like the offer, you continue the conversation and make a counter offer. True or not, that citation made it sound like Neil slammed the door in their faces because he can't part with his Precious.

I am having a hard time believing that Masai would trade Siakam for CJ.
If you were him would you? So this puts doubt in my mind.

Not necessarily. Frameworks get talked about multiple times before real trades are made.

But I don't like that the initial apprehension came from our side.

That's kind of where I'm at on this as well.

Olshey's history on CJ should erase some of the doubt

and I don't see where it was said to be just a one-for-one trade that was discussed. Just that Portland had a real high value of CJ and were the ones that killed the dialog. Ujiri doesn't have the same reputation as Morey...or Olshey...when it comes to setting crazy value for his players; at least not that I'm aware of

NEIL IS GETTING FIRRRRED!

Lol
This was before he left for Tokyo, when the Abbott "report" came out and Dame denied it publically.

Initially I just thought it was he wanted to compete for a title. Now I'm thinking it makes more sense it's him wanting Neil fired.:banghead2:

Wait I’m so confused.
Was there a report Neil might just be trying to increase value?
Is there a report he might get fired?

poll lacks choices....I don't think either thing applies...he's not a moron and he's not playing mind games...he's scrambling to survive and keep his job..I couldn't vote given the choices
The guy who made the poll might have a pretty bad impression of Neil Olshey.

I’m not even convinced this is true to begin with. But even if it was, I could see a scenario in which Toronto asked for something ridiculous.

His job is to increase value! And it appears to me the Vulcans approve for now.
Jody imo,has dele-dumped the franchise onto Neil and he has a lot of freedom.

What ridiculousness that does include CJ but doesn't include Dame do you think would be worthy of simply breaking off talks, when Dame's willingness to stay in Portland is at stake?

So you just do whatever trade regardless of how beneficial it is to us? C’mon, man.

There's doing a trade for a sake of a trade and then there's doing a trade to try to save the franchise.

It's really, really simple to think about. You're welcome.

This is the most stagnant movement in the history of the English language to be called "scrambling".

If he wanted Neil fired, do you guys seriously think Neil would still be here?

This could mean he wants C.J. traded.

This could mean a trade in general.

This could mean he wants a championship in Portland.

This could mean a number of things.

Don't believe I said that at all--actually I asked a question seeking your perspective/opinion. You're welcome to answer it, if you're so inclined.
