This sucks in more ways than one. Those guys love Rip City with all their heart and even in the lean times, never losed hope that we would be alright in the end. I don't think this is by any means us trying to sell the team, more that Kolde wants more yes men to cater to him. I can see Curtin especially not kowtowing to him and letting him know what was what. Good luck to these guys and I hope they find somewhere else to be appreciated.
Before I was a teacher. I left that job because of that and finished college to become a teacher. The boss wanted to keep me on in a lesser role, and share all my knowledge with the new guy. I felt so disrespected that I just couldn't bring myself to stay.
Remember, The Vulcan mothership endorse's a centralized approach to certain aspects of running a business. Consolidation is also sold as cost cutting, and not duplicating efforts, within divisions or subsidiary.
To be fair, because of HCP some of us have met them, so we do have personal stories attached to it. We're just a very small subsect though. In the macro sense I do wonder, but we're Portland so I'm not too surprised lol
There's max 1 person here that'll know and rightfully we should only know if the team wants us to know.
People keep saying that but I've got nothing to base it on....Blazers have spent big money under Vulcan and just remodeled the Practice facility, put a new roof on Moda and hired a bunch of scouts and assistants not to mention starting a G league team. That's why I don't think the move has anything to do with money.
Yeah, still not sure why people keep accusing ownership of not spending on the Blazers - that's never been a problem.
I'm sure they have a new team lined up for whatever reason but my guess is that they are trying maybe too hard to put their own stamp on the franchise
This is more of a wild ass guess, but maybe Bert wants the Blazers to invest into Root Sports to take the place WBD vacated? If they did go about that route then their would be some overlap positions so therefore some people had to be let go. However I would think that one would wait till after said is done before letting people go, hence its why more of a guess/theory than anything else.
Well, if they're replaced with cheaper, younger folks, here is how the future may look... Everything is based on cell usage in the arena. There will be loud music over the top of everything...and at least 3 things happening at all times. the actual game play will become less and less important. I know this because I didn't grow up having my frontal lobe overstimulated.....and I can exist with simple stimulation....and I have no side effects from it. Attended the last game against the Warriors, and Blaze was walking around the concourse with a person manning the megaphone and there was loud music added. Some of the folks following them, were still checking their phones. BTW......get off my lawn.
It definitely feels like the lineup in The Usual Suspects, I'll give you that. But Marang is a Lakers fan who lives in Portland and figured out that he could make money saying ridiculous things into a microphone. Jaynes is an over-the-hill journalist (who used to be at least somewhat credible) but has now learned that he can make money saying ridiculous things on the internet (or into a microphone). The difference, to me, between these two and C.I.P.... is he's been embarrasing himself since WAAAAAY before he was getting paid to do it. How he landed ANY job he has, I have no idea, but dude was doing it for free even before it was cool to say ridiculous things. The only time I've ever come close to being as embarrassed by association is when Donald Trump tried to buy the Buffalo Bills, and even that is mostly in retrospect... I'm not a fan of Chads, is what I'm saying lol
