If you're planning to vote for Joe Biden simply because he's not Donald Trump, then, OK. So be it.

However, if you're gonna vote for Biden because of (in addition to) his stances and prospective policies, then I'd love to know what Joe brings to the table for you.

I won't be bringing any comparisons to Trump in this thread. I hope you don't, either. I'm simply looking for some constructive comments from you as to what you/we might expect to see from the man if/when he becomes elected POTUS.
 
Pretty sure everyone in this forum knows Biden has nothing to offer. The idea on the left is that he’s a better alternative than what we have now. American politics is like a slow race. How shitty of a candidate can you run while still winning the race. It’s sort of a paradox, this idea that you can have a corruptible Manchurian candidate that also appears human and to have people’s best interests in mind. Obama fit that bill extremely well, he was a great actor. Trump, Biden and most the other clowns that have run the last few years...not so good. They kind of all wear their bullshit on their sleeve.

I’d expect Biden to try and provide another “healthcare for all” plan. I’d expect him to roll back the tax reductions for the rich. I’d expect him to oversee this country with dignity and professionalism. I’d expect him to rebuild our relationships with our allies and restore our respect in the eyes of the world. I’d expect him to look out for the more unfortunate among us by rolling back policies put in place since 2016. I’d expect Biden to restore rules and regulations that protect our air and water quality. In other words, I’d expect pretty much a complete reversal of all that has been inflicted upon us since the beginning of 2016. Got you shuddering now, don’t I...........??
 
Joe Biden’s platform is

“I’m so old and crazy you can sneak in and steal my checkbook while I watch Matlock with the volume at 11.”

It is extremely enticing to big business lobbyists.
 
Not to mention, at his advanced age isn’t he basically going to be hiding in his basement for the unforeseen future due to coronavirus? I just don’t get the Democratic strategy at play here. But then again, the whole thing does seem like a wet dream for the string-pullers.
 
Biden represents the Democratic party platform, which I much prefer to the Republican party platform. It's not like I think Biden brings something new or novel; I prefer the pro-choice position, progressive tax structures, expanded federal health coverage, stronger welfare systems for the poor, etc. Plus the typical inside-baseball stuff: I'd rather have progressive judges over conservative judges (up to and including the Supreme Court), I'd rather Democratic enforcement of laws through federal agencies like ICE, the FCC, etc.

As much as I think Trump is a terrible person and President, my view is not really "must get Trump out, because orange man bad." I wanted President Bush out just as much. I'm extremely partisan because I think the Republican party, as a whole, either stands for, or tolerates, some truly awful things. And I fully get that Republicans feel the same about the Democratic party. (And, of course, some people feel that way about both parties.)

So, for me, the question is not what Biden stands for, or whether Trump is "literally Hitler," it's about reducing Republican control over policy and enforcement. Biden wouldn't, at all, be my first choice for President but as the current avatar of Democratic policies, he's sufficient.

Those are probably the true heart of the policy differences between Democrats and Republicans. The problem for me, as a former Republican and still fairly conservative voter, is that I don't buy that the Democrats' policy positions on tax structure, federal health coverage, and welfare systems are really beneficial for this country. I'll almost certainly vote for Biden now that Tara-Gate is pretty much demolished as a real issue, but I won't be happy about it. To me, it really is a case of "Orange Man Bad".

Yeah, I get that. I'm not sure that I could support a person like Trump if he were running as a Democrat, no matter how much I want Democratic policy. It's not quite a contradiction, but it's an interesting dynamic--when it comes to voting against, I'm not too concerned with the person himself or herself, it's about the policies. But when it comes to voting for, it's hard to vote for someone I find personally reprehensible even if the policy is in line with what I think is best for the nation.

Joe was my last choice from the field opposing Trump but what Joe brings is the ability to organize a team...he's not ever going to impress people as an orator but he has skills Trump can't even sniff.....he is too old....I would have liked to see female candidates get a shot at the job. Old white guys is what we have and one is completely unacceptable for too many reasons to list...in my view if you're not over Trump by now then you don't value the plain truth

I differ with you here. Gender doesn't play a role in deciding who I vote or do not vote for.
I want the most qualified candidate.
Before this cycle started I had hoped to vote for EW.
But then she decided to show herself to not know what she was talking about. As well as unable to stand on her running principles.
Therefore she lost my desire to vote for her.

Shame I think she was highly likable too.
Perhaps she comes back next cycle and actually has her shit together.
Hopefully she doesn't make the same mistakes if she does.

I wanted Yang this time but Klobuchar by the time he was out of it....I'm not gender driven about my choices...I just am disappointed in the results again. Anybody running is more qualified than Trump in my view. A female president would represent a new dynamic....and all of them in my view are more qualified than Trump...

I don't care what Joe's network of influence is but I trust him way more than Bozo the apprentice...…..I know what the alternative is representing and it's unacceptable...I wish there were two better choices but there never are....it is what it is in the words Jerry Seinfeld hates....2020 is a purely damage control election..it's broke, we need to fix it

I'd say the substance is summed up in the post....."a warm body"....I'll add, "any reasonable adult"..it's not like people are all worked up by Joe Biden...I'm ready to vote today and not waste another breath on Trump's bullshit
